Finch out to his 2nd ball & Marsh followed very soon to be 2/12.. Couple of great knocks & well finished by Turner.. Nice to see Handscomb crack the TON.. Kohli would be peed off with 357 in the bag..

Will be very interesting to see what they do in the decider if Stoinis is fit again. He does provide another bowling option whereas Turner is not able to bowl due to a shoulder injury. It may be that Carey gives way and Handscomb takes the gloves. This would be tough on Carey though, he kept very well and batted beautifully for the situation ( just kept giving the strike to Turner)

BH, GTR: his batting was 'not fragile', so to speak.

Well after a promising start at 1/170 we managed 272 from our 50 overs in the 5th and deciding ODI vs IND.
You get the feeling 272 is well short of par against this Kohli led batting line up when 350 looked on the cards over half way through our innings!

Update: Well well well we ended up knocking them over for 230 odd and won by 40 runs and the series 3-2.
Just hope we havent played our World Cup 3 months early!

I think we need to keep this in perspective, great achievement that it was. India were well below par and they were very much in experimental mode in this series. If they had been absolutely hell bent on winning there is no way they would have left Dhoni out of the decider. I don't think this series is an accurate indicator of each teams World Cup prospects.

Having said this, you can only beat the players that are put out on the park and Australia did it brilliantly. How important was that little partnership at the end between Richardson and Cummins which bumped them up from 230 to 270. A number of players enhanced their ODI reputations in this series and locked themselves in for World Cup berths amongst them Khwaja, Handscomb, Cummins ( not that he was ever in any doubt), Turner, Zampa and Lyon.

The selectors have a nice problem now as 4 experienced players ( Smith, Warner, Starc and Hazlewood) will also be available shortly and suddenly there is a lot of competition for spots. Still a bit nervous about FInch despite his 90 in one game but he has obviously been anointed as the Captain.

Very true Mikeh, saying that, this series was an enormous confidence booster for the squad....though UK conditions are far removed from Indian conditions, so who knows what will happen when the comp starts....don't think Hazlewood should get in, can't bat like Jhye Richardson and Richardson is improving all the time and has worked well in tandem with Cummins....I guess Starc if fit is a walk up start.....good move to drop Marsh, with the series on the line, he was the only batsmen without any runs, despite his previous 12 months of great ODI form.

Warner more of a need than Smith for the ODI format I reckon, the former clears the boundary more often and Handscomb and Uzzie are providing that run a ball batting without any fireworks that Root and Morgan provide for England....don't need 3...so really depends which two of the four(Smith, Uzzie, Marsh & Handscomb) are in good nick at the time.....Turner for me is the finisher, done it so many times for WA and showed all n sundry the other night...Maxwell and Stonis for the big hitting....perhaps Carey misses out with Handscomb doing the keeping to allow Aust to play Smith....though Carey would be stiff to miss out. Zampa keeps picking up key batsmen, so a leggie is always handy.....Finch will play....but yep reckon his gap between bat and pad will attract a few bowlers with a good inswinger....perhaps bat him late on in the innings.

Cummins needs a rest v Pakistan....play him in 1 or 2 games but not all....give Behrendorf a good run v Pakistan, reckon in UK conditions he has more control than Starc would....just can't bat tho.....
