That is, the feud between SR Waugh and SK Warne

For the moment I will just say this; the great irony as all cricket lovers know, is tha,t had Warne been blessed with a better temperment, he would have never had to play under the bloke from NSW in the first place. Never mind, he did captain Victoria and Hampshire. They nammed a stand after him. How come the Victorians have failled to honour him?

AR I am pretty certain Shane Warne hates Steve Waugh because when he took over as Captain (from Mark Taylor) in the Caribbean in 1999 he dropped Warne from the Test team in favour of Stuart MacGill after Brian Lara had taken Warne to the cleaners in the first couple of Tests. I think SK Warne believed he was beyond being dropped.

Spot on AR.
Warnie was arguably the best leggie of all time but boy he could throw the toys out of the cot if he didnt get it all his own way which was proven here with S.Waugh dropping Warne as his form was very ordinary in that series and he didnt look like getting B.C Lara out for anything under 150 an innings!

As I recall the Aussies ended up winning that test and squaring the series BH, so it was the right call by Waugh.

Remember Warny was a Vic so he could do better than everyone else. Will never forget the Ashes 2005 when Australia where played off the park.Warne kept us in that series with bat and ball he was brilliant.
S Waugh. One of the former SA greats ,B Richards.Said he wouldn't cross the road to watch Waugh bat.But didn't he have great heart. What would we give to have that type of player in our current test side.

gtr: good post: IM Chappell has said something similar in relation to Boycott both he and Richards were wrong. Boycott taught Waugh how to play off the back foot against pace bowlling and how to play for the 'red ink'. When Boycott and SR Waugh played for their respective countries, England and Australia won the vast majority of their tests; in fact, both countries were at the top of the test playing world, when each were at their peak in test cricket.

Ark did Boycott train S Waugh.Or did he learn by watching him batting.

gtr: I think him and Dean Jones went and played in the Yorkshire and Lancashire leagues at some point, which is quite common for our bloke, as you know. You could certainly imagine Sir Geoff Boycott, he is still chassing the knighthood, and rightly so, watching himself bat in a mirror.

History shows Waugh's decision was correct, wish Warne would move on man up and acknowledge he was bowling shite....injury related or not, no one is bigger then the team, point proved by Waugh at the time.....
