Absolutely spot on BH.....Carey for me too....Paine sounds like a great guy but Carey is a better bat .....or even Josh Inglis....to keep that WA feel

Definitely Freeze Paine is a 34yo so he is really only a short term stop gap (mainly to lead the side with Smith suspended) Carey, Inglis appeal as more long term solutions with the gloves.
To be honest I have supported S.Marsh in the past but it is now time to draw the curtain on his Test career and move ahead with some young talent blooded this Summer before the suspended boys are back.
In a way its a reminder of the late 70s with the big boys away (WSC) and a few young blokes got a crack in the Test side where the likes of Border, Hughes, Wood etc emerged.

We are falling apart like a Chinese Motorbike again...the inevitable wicket after wicket this morning Abbas is making us look silly with his swing and seam (not too mention some very ordinary batting) whilst our bowlers barely had any movement on these same decks!

Amazing to see Abbas swinging and seaming his way to 10 wickets....yet Siddle and Starc did fark all with it.....end of the road for Siddle, Holland and S Marsh me thinks.....Hazelwood and Cummins in for the first two...Renshaw in for S Marsh.......hopefully as u say BH, Aust can find a silver lining batsmen wise with Smith and Warner out.....surely Langer can find a hidden gem somewhere in Aust cricket...

Khawaja also in doubt for the India series with a knee injury. Batting stocks are at an all time low. Given the next test is not till December there is a lot of Shield cricket between now and then for candidates to push their claims. May not be the end for Shaun Marsh as a few centuries for WA would probably see him retain his place. Holland and Siddle were baffling selections which didnt pay off. If Khawaja isn't fit I would fancy that Renshaw would come in to the opening slot in place of him and the team for the 1st test would be
Finch
Renshaw
S Marsh
Head
Handscomb
M Marsh
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
Hazlewood
12th Man: Bird

I think that is what JL is hoping for mikeh with the Marsh boys....Sean especially.....come back to WA and score a few 100s.....though Mitch will be playing ODI won't he, so not sure how productive that is gonna be for the fella......interesting selection times for JL and the selectors.....

That leg spinner Yassir Shah looks a gun bowler..Great control and fast arm action.Very similar action to the Afghan Leggie that plays for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash.

The reality is that Australia were very lucky to survive for a draw in the first test and were comprehensively beaten in the second. Unfortunately the Sheffield Shield matches are nowhere near as strong as what they used to be. Very rarely are the strongest teams playing in those matches.

Pretty sure that is world wide with every countries 1st class comps with the amount of cricket being played now days 42.......still not an excuse why Aust batsmen can't bat for more than 50 deliveries and have dodgy techniques.....sadly test cricket ain't a priority now days with all this easy T20 cash to make around the world with today's players....

Spectacular collapse by the 20/20 team, whatever the test team can do we can do better. Fair dinkum, Pakistan bowled well but 6/26 in the powerplay! Finch, Short, Maxwell and Lynn were just poor shot selection and Mcdermott ran himself out. Bails and stumps flying everywhere. JL looked completely flabbergasted. Oh well who wants a trophy with a biscuit on top........
