Marnus was unlucky, it was a brilliant catch but as the great Don Bradman said once, if you don't want to get out caught, don't hit the ball in the air!
Pretty limp batting performance by both teams in the first innings to be honest, the pitch seems to have settled down so it may be a higher scoring 2nd innings. Crucial breakthrough by Cummins before stumps to remove Williamson who is the type of batsman who could score 200 on a docile wicket, pity that Carey dropped Latham just before stumps, how much longer are the selectors going to put up with Careys continual underperformance with the bat which is now seeping in to his keeping.

Unfortunately we are now the seeing the result when our continually underperforming batsmen fail every innings, never under threat of losing their position in the side with the clown coach constantly making excuses for their ineptness, it is putting enormous pressure on the bowlers who are struggling to have any impact in the second innings at Christchurch.
The bowlers have for the most part been carrying the side for well over a year now but when they cant deliver we are just at minnow level with the batting and the off field coaches/selectors!

GTR & Mike yep you are both spot on groundhog day continues with this inept batting.
Just when you think it couldnt get any worse we lose our entire top order in the short spell before stumps.
How on earth DiVenuto keeps his gig as batting coach is beyond me???
When was the last time we made 400 in an innings???
The Kiwis made batting look easy for the best part of 2 days whilst we stumbled and bumbled in an hour on what should have been the best day for batting day 3!
NZ should have this long overdue home win vs AUS parceled up by lunch tomorrow if not the first drinks session!

They have created a real problem with the move of Smith to open. He looks like a walking LBW against the new ball and they are not going to shift him back to 4 when Green is settling in as a long term player in that position. Smith is also becoming a Shane Watson, wasting reviews when he is plum LBW
Australias only chance tomorrow is if Marsh and Head tee off in the morning session and are somehow able to reduce the target to under 100 without being separated. Long shot though as both were actually lucky to survive the final session tonight so the likelihood is that the game will be done and dusted in the early afternoon.

Great win against the Kiwis. Carey’s innings with 98no off 123 balls pivotal with Marsh’s 80.

New Zealand dropped that game - Australia shouldn't have been anywhere close to winning

Young Sears shown Australia that youth is the way - dumb farks coaching wouldn't see that , what's the bet a 35 year old gets a call up
or stick with schitzo Starc who you never know what is going to get dished up

Time to go new generation while the going is good

A wonderful batting effort by Marsh, Carey and Cummins. Poor drop by the Kiwis of Marsh at 28 which might have produced a different result but despite all the criticism, you have to hand it to the Aussies, they always seem to be able to find a way.  A team that believes they can win from anywhere versus the Kiwis who you feel don't really believe deep down and that was demonstrated today. They were gone at 5 for 80 but dug their way out of that
