somehow India have worked back into it - Cummins has declared a bit too early and just given away a chance
would be no surprise to see India take this now
poor coach poor captain poor tactics

I thought that the timing of the declaration was fine. The problem was that the new ball bowlers particularly Starc and Cummins sent down too many 4 balls which were gratefully despatched by the Indian Batsmen.
Of the 3 wickets that fell, 2 were poor shots by Sharma and Pujara and TBH Gill should have been given the benefit of the doubt over that Green catch

that too mate but why on earth would you even consider giving them 40 overs to get set and then a full day to go for it?
History says it won't matter but it left the door wide open for that to be changed

Starc comes on to replace the ever reliable Boland and straight away he starts leaking  runs.
Is currently going at over 6 an over for goodness sake.

well they did win and you'd say Travis Head & Scott Boland were the difference (not forgetting Smith) along with India just being worse than us in the UK

Once Kohli was dismissed it was really just a matter of time. One thing is certain, Boland needs to play in the Ashes, possibly all 5 tests. This will leave Starc, Hazlewood and Neser to fight out the other pace spot.

It will be interesting to see what decision is made relating to Starc for the first ashes test. Up to his last spell yesterday I was convinced that he had to make way for Hazlewood, but he is a wicket taker ( albeit an expensive one) and I saw signs in his last spell yesterday that he was just starting to get back into some rhythm. Whatever they do Boland just has to play at Edgbaston.

Great win on top from day1.
India punted wrong on the day 1  wicket
Trav and Smudge batted beautifully on day 1.

Great to win the World Test Championship Final but still some glaring issues that need to be addressed before the Ashes commences on Friday-
1. The opening pair of Warner & Khawaja continue to struggle in India with the bat meaning Labushagne & Smith are constantly coming in at 2 for stuff all.
2. Starc continues to bleed runs in England, going at 6 an over is not acceptable at Test level especially if you are not taking key wickets, England will no doubt target him if selected.
3. Boland just has to play all 5 Tests, with Hazlewood & Neser next in line to alternate the other fast bowling spot ahead of Starc.
