they ended up nearly 200 ahead and our "best" spinner went for nearly that alone

and now three down in a twinkling of an eye geez

Wouldn't mind a defeat like this if it meant the likes of Warner and Head don't get selected for the India tour......but those two no doubt will score enough over the Aussie summer to secure a flight to India next year.....rather go for two inexperienced sorts in Hunt and Pucovski then Warner and Head....the latter two have proven they struggle playing away from Aust pitches....atleast give the former two a chance to see if they could do better.

Well done to Sri Lanka. They bat for more than 6 sessions and then we capitulate in less than 2. Pathetic.

Sri Lanka with 3 debutants one of whom took a 6 for in both innings (12 for the match) made our batsmen look like complete and utter imbeciles with the bat.
Hopefully some tough calls are made on selection going forward (Warner, Head,Carey....) but I wont hold my breath as no doubt players mate/"coach" Ronald McDonald will be handing out hugs, kisses and goodwill measures instead to keep Pat on side! 

BH....even if JL was in charge, those 3 would probably keep their spots.....JL is even more loyal then Ronnie Mac I reckon......JL kept Warner in when Broad was getting him out for next to nothing in the last UK Ashes.....Starc was bowling pies v India and kept his spot for the GABBA test....

But I agree all 3 need to miss the tour to India.....but they won't.....more so because they will score the odd 50 v SA or WI over the summer and book their Mumbai flights

Great reply by SriLanka after the first test.We really struggled to bowl them out,using 7 bowlers.Only Starc+Swepson had success.They occupied the wicket long enough for it to become a minefield for our batsmen.

biggest problem apart from the shoddy batting was Lyon being trashed for nearly half of Sri Lanka's runs

While he has got a shit load of wickets over the years, I reckon the longer a series goes the less effective Lyon becomes. I could be wrong but from memory he takes wickets early in series and not so many later in the series
