Anyone know how the shield is awarded in the case of a draw in the final?  Listening to the sports show this morning and they didn’t really seem to know how it works.  Apparently it’s to do with bonus points through the season, but who has the most?  What a Fukn dogs dinner.  Probably thought up by a New South Wanker or a Pricco.

58Shark, the first innings points apply to the first 100 overs of the innings in the final.

For the batting team they get 0.01 for every run over 200 in the first 100 overs. The bowling team get 0.1 points for a wicket.
So WA were 6-307 at the 100 over mark of their innings so WA got 1.07 (200+107) and Vic got 0.6
Victoria were 6 - 284 at the 100 over mark so they got 0.84 and WA got 0.6 for their wickets

So the total for WA was 1.67 and Victoria 1.44

Therefore if there is no result in the game, WA will win the shield.

A moot point because I think there is enough time for one team to force a victory.(hopefully WA)

I was at the game yesterday and listening to 91.3 and the bonus point system really created a game within the game. Fascinating to see the tactics changing as the targets loomed. I think it worked really well. It’s a shame people at the game not listening to the radio didn’t know what was happening as those around me were clueless to the tension

Definitely needed a tweak to prevent the home side from setting up shop and looking for a draw  from day 1. As mikeh says, weather permitting plenty of time to get a result. Would love to see young Wyllie play a good innings today, definitely one for the future.

things were looking sketchy at 5 for just over 100 but it was an excellent rearguard fightback to go near on 400 ahead - hopefully we can do what has been done to us before and bat this one out now or maybe go hard at an outright early on tomorrow
we hold the aces in this one

who dreams up this stuff? The best way to get fairness is to make the final 'timeless'- Bradman played under those rules, as did Hobbs, nethier seemed to  have been harmed at all. Even better would be for commentators to stop complaining regarding 'drawn matches'.

The commentary on Fox Cricket AR was nothing short of a disgrace.
It was like a chore for them all to be paid to commentate watching WA vs VIC over 5 days.
I for one will be putting in a complaint to the management as it was totally unacceptable!

There was one scenario today where Hardie played a shot which the cameraman at the ground followed out to the boundary and the commentators described it as such before they realised that the ball was nestled in the hands of Will Pucovski. It often sounded like they were a group of drunks telling stories in a bar rather than serious commentators.

best thing would have to be the Viccos having to give up at lunch - getting a bit of their own back after all this time

Every time I was able to tune in, all I heard was barracking for the Vics.  Hoping for another few runs, hoping for another wicket, ffs!
