Starc isn't playing as he has a dodgy hammy and Lyon is being rested but the likes of Wade, Labuschagne, Paine, Neser, Head, Swepson, Abbott, Henriques are all in. Surely a 21 yo can handle 3 tests and then switch over to BBL.

Good point, I sure a 21yo could handle it, probably better than aging player.

58 did you see the wickets they prepared at Optus Oval for the Scorchers games.Green tops with the keeper taking the ball at head hight.

Winning last night would have bought them back home for their final. Doesn’t mean it’s a given, but sure makes it easier on their home turf. See Turner chose to bowl first to put the team under pressure leading into the finals. Good article in the paper.

An absolute shocker tonight. Completely outplayed by a better team who will probably go on and win the title. 167 was never going to be enough on a placid pitch but I thought the bowlers might at least make them work for it however the Sixers just did as they liked and cruised home.
Looks like the Scorchers have peaked too early. Returning home for the preliminary final will probably give them some hope but they may reflect what might have happened if they had been more ruthless in their last qualifying game, held onto top spot and played the final at Optus. The result may well have been a bit different but who knows?
There have been many terrible umpiring decisions in the BBL this season, add another one which cut short Marsh's innings tonight. Why is there no DRS?

Channel 7 did not want to televise the BBL this season. And point blank refused to pay for the DRS.CA also didnt want to put the cash up .The bowler + keeper only appealed last night because it was a leg side wide.M Marsh has a strike rate of 260 in the Power Surge.Having said that the 6'ers will flog who ever lines up against them in the GF.

Marsh may end up being suspended for his reaction to the decision which would be a big blow to their chances of getting another crack at the Sixers. There is a precedent already this season with Zampa suspended for disputing an umpires decision. I didnt think Marshes one was that over the top TBH, may just be a fine or reprimand. I note also that both the bowler (o'Keeffe) and the keeper ( Phillipe) both admitted later that it was not out and they were appealing to distract the umpire from calling a wide.
The other talking point out of last night was whether Tye deliberately bowled a wide to prevent Vince getting a century with one run needed to win. I suppose only Tye knows whether that was the case. Looked like just a bouncer that went horribly wrong.

Looks as though Turner’s decision to bowl first the other night back fired and cost them top spot. However, the Sixers were all power and last night, looked like the could beat anyone.
Marsh got out of it ok - $5k fine.

Perth openers struggled and that set the course
chewed up too many balls - O'Keefe got away with plenty
Then Sydney made it all look ridiculous
so this is where top two coughs up
the second chance

And another howler in last night’s game. The incompetent umpiring will be the killing of the BBL.

I think the Scorchers are pushing a pretty big wheelbarrow uphill for the final on Thursday. For a start they would have had to deal with the disappointment of not being able to play the game at OPTUS. Then they have been bunkered up in Canberra since Saturday whilst their opponents have been able to travel home to Brisbane to freshen up. Finally the Heat have masses of momentum going into the game whilst the Scorchers have lost their mojo at the wrong time.
I think Turner should field this time if he wins the toss to take out the dew factor and give our bowlers a chance to get it right this time. Get Lynn early and restrict them to around 160 - 170 and the Scorchers batsmen will have a good chance to chase that down.

Fully agree mike. They’re trying to shovel shite uphill with a garden fork. It seems that they have totally lost it since Turner tried an experiment in bowling first and lost the game through it. I thought the idea was to never flirt with winning form. Big job ahead.

Heat have improved so much with the inclusion of Burns + Labusehagne. Paine should of bowled Labusehagne more often in the test summer. His bowling has been outstanding in the BBL.
