So far Essendon have been hit with a wet lettuce leaf when clearly some high profile people were behind the intention to push the boundaries when it comes to supplements to try to gain an edge. James Hird is a key player behind that push IMO. How could the senior coach not be behind it and have knowledge of it?

A pointless exercise really. I think they should have just left ASADA to get on with it

The Ziggy report will have absolute no impact on what happens with respect to ASADA. The perinent point is whether any players were involved in the taking of banned substances. The absolute is that it is the player's responsibility and unless there are mitigating circumstances, (e.g. tainted product) they will receive the sanction according to the nature of the banned substance.

As for Mr Evans saying that he will go to the elections at the earliest convenience, practically speaking that is meaningless unless he is opposed. I do not have much knowledge of the Essendon Footy club; but I suspect he won't be challenged unless there has been a significant impact (such as Hird and Thompson being sacked or several players suspended for 6 months or 2 years).

What is patently clear is that the Victorian media, in particular, is conflicted because of the esteem in which Hird is held. I thin if it had been someone of a lesser profile to Hird then the media might be more vociferous in their reporting and investigation.

Speaking of the media it is interesting that on Monday nights on Foxtel's Sports programme they have a former Essendon player, Mark McVeigh, and Rebecca Wilson cmmenting on the investigations. The former Essendon player clearly has a conflict of interest. Rebecca Wilson speaking on another hot topic, Waterhouse and Singleton, agreed with the suggestion that Tom Waterhouse should not be allowed to operate on races in which his mother has a horse running. If that was to occur it would mean that there would be very few Sydney metropolitan races he would be allowed to operate on and could conceivably mean he couldn't hold any bets on the biggest race we have - the Melbourne Cup.

I think you are right in regards to James Hird swan.He looks a bit woried when you see him on cam nowdays.Not sure ASADA will let him off scott free.

A/man I am not sure that ASADA has any jurisdiction over Hird.

Agree with this.... though no different to love child Benny, and all the media support etc he had here. Of course once it was a point of no return it was diffrerent...but boy it took years to come to a head. Fancy having Langdon Grjiusich and Barra on 6pr with there so called conflict of interest???
