I think this years Grand FInal will be a very competitive match. Both Collingwood and West Coast were very impressive in their preliminary final victories and the previous final at Optus a few weeks ago was the closest game of the finals series. We have the midfields of Shuey,Yeo, Hutchings, Jetta and Co up against Pendelbury, Treloar and Sidebottom. There is West Coasts defence led by Mcgovern and Hurn lcoking horns with guys such as De Goey, Hoskin -Elliott, Varcoe and Cox. There is the ruck contest between Lycett and Vardy who did so well against Gawn, now up against Grundy. Finally there is the Collingwood backline which has been so solid all year trying to contain the twin towers of Darling and Kennedy. The Eagles also have Le Cras and the 2 X factors in Rioli and Ryan to create mayhem in the forward line.
All in all it shapes as a mouth watering contest. I think if the Eagles can break even in the clearances and midfield battle ,I reckon they have more goal scoring options in their forward line than Collingwood and this should be enough for them to win the flag.

I reckon the Victorian club will target the 3 Aboriginal boys with physical pressure to try and put them off their game. They should prepare themselves for that along with their team mates.

I hate to say it but I think the Pies will get up. Beating Richmond at the MCG was a bit more impressive than WCE knocking off Melbourne at Boo Stadium. I hope the beags get up as I can't stand Collingwood or McGuire but think it will be a tough ask.

Unfortunately you could be right. I think the wobblers win was more impressive given their opponents. Melbourne played their GF too early and I hope that, so did the wobblers. If the coasters lose, I won’t watch a footy show for the whole off season, just couldn’t stand to see the smug fat eddie’s face.

Can't see how WCE can lose TBH.....who is gonna kick Collingwoods goals? Can see Hurn going to De Goey, whilst Barrass and McGovern will shut down Cox....can see Ryan or Rioli doing something exciting on Sat.....esp Ryan.....WCE have a plethora of goal kickers....only place where Collingwood will hurt WCE is in the ruck.....Grundy will dominate Lycett and Vardy....be a tough ask for Collingwood to replicate that Richmond intensity TBH.....seems like Collingwood might have played their GF just getting into the GF....like WP did beating SF....

That is the way I see it as well...

I reckon it will take some other factors for Collingwood to win, like bad Melbourne weather , which is on the cards, very cold day and showers witll help the pies, I reckon there is also a chance a few WCE players might go missing on the big stage with enough pressure.

But for mine The Eagles go in faves.

Yeah, its not really ideal preparation , the game v Melbourne was a joke of an outing, Melbourne applied zero pressure. If they expect a coast like that it might get away from them.

It so even to tip, fine dry day I say the Eagles,if it’s wet then it probably does tip the scales Collingwood way.
If the rain does come I think one of JK or Darling needs to have a good one,the rain won’t help the big yank in there forward line so Cripps,LeCras,Ryan and Willie will need to fire.
The Eagles mids along with the rucks will at least need to break even.

The result could also depend on the extent of McGoverns injury as Dusty showed if your not 100 percent fit it can bite you on the arse.

I just wonder if either team based on the weather will make late changes?

I still don’t know who to tip,may have to see the team lists and take a last look of the weather before deciding.

McGovern will go in with a heap of pain killers, he will play, really not great player welfare wise but its what they do.
