After Sunday morning's wimpfest, I was too disgusted to watch any more footy!!
But listening to a couple of commentators that did the game, they said that they never really noticed her throwing it up and it showed no impact on the game. I guess an old traditionalist like me could reconsider. Won't reconsider my stance on bloody females trying to commentate the game though!!!

I didn't notice that the umpiring was any worse than normal. So far as the bounce goes it doesn't bother me if they have to bounce a few times, wouldn't like to see it go.

I assume the players can swear like troupers etc, providing of course it is not directed at her???

A/man I would think an umpire not being able to bounce is analogous to an excellent kick at full forward who is not capable of marking the ball. The full forward won't be selected nor should the umpire. From what was said the problem was that where the ball was to be bounced in the centre was newly re-laid turf and as a consequence was too soft to allow a decent. Therein lies the problem have a plethora of umpires' advisers that didn't have a scintilla of common sense nor the umpires themselves to make the decision to throw the ball up; unless of course there is a hidden agenda to eliminate the bounce entirely.

Are you suggesting the debutante female umpire who obviously cannot bounce to save herself in the ESS vs WCE game who by the way is also a teacher at an Essendon school was made a scapegoat unbeknownst to her self 42?

what is the problem with a bad bounce? If there is a bad bounce during play no one ever bitches. We need to keep the bounce and just wave play-on whatever direction it goes.

get rid of the bounce as its dated, archaic and serves no real purpose...as for sheila umpires...who cares what gender they are as long as they're doing a good job. pick the best umpires each week regardless of gender....jeez for all I care if a trained monkey was the best umpire going around then it should get the nod....couldn't be any worse than Razor
