If you are correct Peter then all articles written about Ryder this week should be assumed as rubbish journalism. No club will take on a player who is going to be banned for 2 years at the beginning of their contract. ASADA have consistently said recently as have the AFL that shortened bans are not available to Essendon players that plead guilty without fault so I guess the media merry-go-round will continue whilst none of the facts are on the table. If Essendon players start leaving left right & centre one can only assume that other clubs have done their due diligence and arrived at the conclusion that 2 yr bans will not be in place, possibly no bans at all otherwise why would any club choose to draft a EFC player under suspicion. Of course that is all up to whether ASADA change their minds again and decide that shortened bans might be ok now as the govt budget runs dry and they scratch to get a result. But then of course WADA will come down over the top of the whole thing and we'll be straight back in the courts and these players will most likely walk away from the game saying "fcuk the lot of yas". Then they sue Essendon FC who will then go to court again to prove no banned substances are in evidence of having been taken and by 2030 we should have a competition devoid of court cases and spectators. Why, because one club chose to inject a controversial peptide (reminder AOD has not been pursued in the courts) that has now been approved for use in the food chain. Secondly because one sports scientist refuses to be interviewed outside of a court room to tell his side of the story with regards to possible use of Thymosin Beta 4 up against the club sanctioned and legal Thymodulin Alpha where due diligence was adhered to by players who agreed to take the legal substance and who some identified this substance clearly when asked . Thirdly because a convicted international illegal drug dealer and illegal drug smuggler associated to this sports scientist every word is being treated as gospel by the investigating authority as he tries to avoid incarceration. ASADA might as well throw in the free steak knives in a bid to lure a guilty plee out of any players who want to break contracts with the club. Problem is if they do they damn themselves in to 2 years out of the game and it's basically career over becoz as you have said since day one WADA will come down over the top and insist on 2 year bans. Funnily enough the EFC might then take the player to court in a bid to explain why he pleaded guilty to something he for so long believed he hadn't done which might then require him to provide the evidence of his guilt, contrary to what the club have been telling him since day dot. Luckily, we all should know in a week or 2 where this is going. Grand Final week would be a perfect opportunity for the judge to release his findings....god forbid he rules in favour of Essendon during the most important footy week of the year....what would Caro do???
