Suspending players for incidents which display no malice is fkn pathetic. The tummy punch is an interesting one as it displays malice but is usually little more than boys being boys with no long term effects. Rather than suspend players for it why don't the umps if they see it pay a double fifty or even create a rule that it's a shot directly in front on the goal line for the victim of the punch....immediate impact to the scoreboard will stop players offending all over the ground up against a 50mtr penalty which won't always result in an immediate score and will also incur the wrath of coaches and team mates alike. Goals given away thru stupid individual acts never go down well in a team environment. As to your post Anchor, the MRP has to begin to consider why they are so keen to rub players out for often not much more than endeavouring to play the game. Malice and intention is the key. Accidents should not be punished unless total inexplicable recklessness has been shown

i was stunned Glass's hit on Shultz which was head high was not even looked at? WHY WHY WHY?

I think some players are just slow learners.
They all know the cameras miss nothing.
They all know the rules are now ridiculous.
Nothing is spared & the media drive these things home hard.
Yet they still do dumb weak baseless acts that do nothing except get them booked.
If players haven't worked it out yet, they deserve whatever they get.

I agree Glass was lucky under the current rules, 2 weeks it should have been.
But I felt disgusted with the Fyfe one. Yes he initiated contact (god forbid) but if we cannot accept in this instance the head clash was an accident, then we are losing this sport.

Ballantyne just baffles me. He can play, but his endless stupidity just isn't warranted. I class him as one of those slow learners. A wonderful explosive talent that actually restricts himself. He may miss a Grand Final one day just by being this frustrated little man. Maybe he has small man syndrome, I don't know what it is.

Ballantyne actually dropped his knee into Shaw's stomach then hit him in the guts. His penalty was clearly warranted. Reckon he is still mentally shot from last years GF.

I rate him as a terrific footballer. I enjoy watching him play, he is very exciting. But how long does it take for the boy to realise cameras are watching everything? He is a talented slow learner. People who make excuses for him aren't helping him either.

I might add Brent Harvey is of the same ilk. And he cops it hard at the tribunal too, and deservedly .

THE MRP is a farce.
I wonder what would have happened to Fyfe if he had tackled and they still clashed heads? Would he have got off? What if Rischitelli had gone off with concussion from the head clash in the tackle?

Also, I didnt get to see too much footy on the weekend but I wonder if Gibson from the Hawks will get off? I think he should as I believe he had nothing but eyes from the ball but who knows with the joke called the MRP.

if you choose to tackle and they clash heads you are fine, its only when you elect to bump.
also interesting comment from Brad Scott that 80% of coaches thought Thomas should have been reported for the head clash last year with Reid which therefore lead to the rules changing and Fyfe getting charged.
so people should be angry with the 80% of senior coaches who got the rules changed, not the MRP
