Time for north to go back to the vfl. Fat man no longer there to bail them out.

14 team comp with each playing the other 13 twice for a 26 round comp.

Not another dollar to struggling vfl clubs.

Lets support 2nd teir comps. Not Demetrious legacy.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Someone on the radio said on the weekend in 10 years at least two Vic clubs will be gone.

So who is struggling the most? Melbourne.....North Melbourne.....Western Bulldogs??

Melbourne has a huge history, would be a shame if it was them who will go. Also, Footscray/WB is in a similar boat. Looks like North it is :D

I think there will always be an AFL side called Melbourne. The AFL could never not have a side in the competition without that name, so in essence the Demons will always prevail. And so they should I think.

I do fear for North very much. I was sure they would relocate to the Gold Coast years ago when the opportunity came, but they didn't. It is now a very hard market in Victoria and us competing with the big gun teams there isn't going to get easier.

I sense if another relocation chance came in Tassie, they may well take it. Like South Melbourne moving to Sydney, I'd rather see them there in Tassie than not at all. But in reality its going to get harder as the years go by. I hope we can hang in there . We are a working mans club, that's what I like about it. Keith Greig still my all time favourite. And Ross Glendenning for that Kangaroos/Royals connection.

The Roo's are pretty much on track paying off their debt that's blown your theory out of the water TFAF, besides this comp is pretty much governed by the tv rights and as is it stands that's for eighteen teams.

7 blockbusters every week is better than 9 games a week with 4 of them being a whatever game. This is of course in my opinion.

has to be 18 teams till at least the end of 2016..
new tv deal to start after that..
last one was 1.25 billion with the next predicted to be around
1.6 billion..
no way they will reduce the number of teams..

the AFL will go to 20 teams before they go to 16.

it is a business first, sport second.
which is abit sad but that's the way it is

I would rather 28 teams than 15,16,17,18,19 etc but with two divisions.

18 to 28 equals 10.

4 from wa
4 from sa
1 from tas
1 from canberra

Would prefer 14 team afl and strong state leagues though.

I can't see Canberra having their own team.

360,000 in Canberra, and 38,000 in Queanbeyan on the NSW side of the border... Should theoretically have been a big enough population to a region that already has an Australian Rules comp.

GWS has failed to be "Canberra's" team. More Footscray supporters here I believe, but they will never move from the West.

North Melbourne had their chance in Canberra too, but failed.

Our of interest, I received an email from the AFL offering $25.00 tickets to the big Sydney Derby in Sydney...
