Early start and a break in the weather so was able to get up to Kingsway to watch the 1 v 3 clash.
Kingsway kicking with the breeze in the 1st quarter, North Beach probably would have been happy to go into break only 1 goal down. In contrast to Scarborough a couple of weeks before, North Beach's defense didn't push up as high and allow Kingsway's forwards to get in behind the defence. North beach seemed to attack, direct their leads quite wide and a lot of entries were from kicking around their bodies.  Umpires in this quarter and throughout the game seemed quite 50 metre penalty happy.
2nd quarter and North Beach were probably planning on use of the wind to take control of the game. Unfortunately for them, didn't pan out that way as Halligan up forward for Kingsway turned it on. Started with his chase down across the half forward line, a clever soccer goal and continually hitting up and providing a marking option. Seen Kingsway 3 times and each game they have put in a quarter of absolute dominance. No big forward of any note this week for them, but their small/medium forwards are hard to stop. Able to cut up defenses with their ball use and couple of them play a bit taller than they are.
4 - 5 goal difference at half time, Halligan kicked an early one in the third to extend the margin, then missed one he usually would kick. From then on it was all North Beach, with Leishman in particuar getting quite active and giving them plenty of drive. Kingsway's defence battled hard and made them earn their goals but the margin was within 2 kicks and momentum was with North Beach.
North Beach attacked hard early, however a lapse in concentration down back allowed a shot to be taken from 30 rather than 40 and the margin got out to within 5 goals. North Beach kept attacking and a couple of times got within 3 points, but Kingsway answered each time,  with an important clearance from their  ruckman who I thought was outpointed for most of the game.
Entertaining game, both sides had periods of dominance, but Kingsway better for longer and also better in the key moments.
North beach now in a fight to regain top spot.

Well summed up GC - It must be noted that the Ruckman you are referring to is an 18 year Old Colts player who got the call Friday Night to say he was making his league debut as the 2 x Usual Kingsway Ruckman were both Sick. Fair effort by Kingsway given they had 5-6 blokes who were still eligible to play Colts as well
