I just rewatched the 1st quarter on streamer.I reckon we are vastly improved from last year and not as smokey says “way off the pace”We are playing an great brand of fast footy that’s bringing in a good crowd. Barra to thank for this as well I imagine.

Newick found the going a lot tougher than Ressies but we got the run into him. Schlensog looks great and will improve with the run.Things like Burna butchering two of his disposals (throughout the game) will happen less and less.

I watched the Ressies yesterday as well and everyone that we retained from last year is better this year and by a good bit – Except maybe AJ – ?worth persevering for a while yet though.

Shannon, J Clarke, B Gray very good and yesterday. Will be putting pressure on Manzone (just because of age). Shannon looks to have a great around the ground kick. J Clarke kicked a beautiful long goal. Obviously one of them comes in for Charlie Constable.

Cachard and Kemp worth persevering with. Ressies and Colts up near the top of the ladder – the Halls looking good in the twos and great to see Willis get his first game of the season.

We had the state treasurer at the pre game lunch. An announcement about the new stand start date and funding – fingers crossed – around the corner.

We have an away win against SF on the 4th of May and the excitement @ Lathlain will be tremendous.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

TFF, I agree that we are playing an improved brand of footy but, IMO, we have a fair way to go and should not have delusions that we are capable of playing finals let alone winning and a flag.

We are a work in progress and we still have much work to do. What I see as the main elements missing atm are physicality,  (and I cannot emphasise this enough), and sustained hard run in numbers. We will not beat teams such as EP, WP or EF. We were lucky to beat SD with their hard run and attack on the ball. On top of that we butcher easy set shots at goal.

We are handicapped by the loss of 3 of our new recruits and Schlensog needs a couple more runs before we see the best of him. We miss Jack Avery down back so much. We also have a weakness in the ruck. Edwards tries hard but he got slaughtered by the EP rucks.

Chaplin is a pleasant surprise. He has settled into the side and showing that he can play at this level. Cooley is doing good things and getting a lot of ball.  Young Elijah Scoble and Noah Cachard are showing great promise and will improve with games under the belt.
Some others of last year's Colts boys are showing good signs in the ressies but will take time to develop.
The loss of Jack Poole is a tragedy. He was showing great promise.

68 points average for the season before last night and 70 points last night. We need to find 5 more goals a game to win more than we lose. We’ve tightened up the defensive side but until we can crack 100 points a game we’ll struggle.

EP were phenomenal with their run and spread. Jones and Crowden dominated. Mature, big bodied, well connected team. Can we become something like that?

Totally agree Daz..they seemed to find space so easily and then when we got the ball we were closed down immediately causing turnovers.
I think the positive from last night is that previous that would have been a 10 goal plus thrashing.
We need to be able to keep the players on the park to develop the chemistry and gamestyle that is going to get us those extra 5 goals.

It is going to be a season defining next few weeks with all these injuries coming up against SF (A), Claremont (H), EF (H - supposed to be away), then WCER before the bye. I think might struggle to win one of those with 4 of our best players out.

Will have to wait on the outcome of Constable's injury. Fingers crossed just a sprain. Looking forward to seeing Ewing and John playing reserves in the coming weeks.

Not sure about season defining.
My expectation was not making the five but improving significantly on last year.
I think we are on track to do that, with 2 wins already.
I thought that we were at least competitive.
Except for them dominating the first quarter, we matched them pretty well for the rest of the game.
Second half 7 goals to 6.
We know how important injuries can be to us.
What it has done is give some of our younger players opportunities, which most of them have taken and they will benefit.
For me the future is looking a lot brighter.

Does anyone know what has happened with Kalib Dempster-Park.
He is still showing on our club list but I don’t think he has played a ressies game as yet.
Also not on the injury list.

Decided he wanted to play ammos, one of the university teams I believe. Very disappointing.

That has been one of our many problems over the years. Retention of promising colts players.
A lot of them seem to lose the desire to play WAFL league football if they miss out on the draft.
Hopefully we keep the ones who are still around including Jake Watson who must be close to a league debut.

Looks like the season may be over for Charlie Constable.
What has PFC done to deserve this injury curse?
