It was just to recognise what is potentially a significant achievement in the history of a competition stretching back to the 1880s. Yes and I know that unlike the EF team of the 1940s there will be no premierships included in this streak so that probably takes away from it a bit. What I am fascinated with is how teams are able to do this over a long period of time. Swans had a streak of 18 wins stretching from 1979 - 1980 and I used to marvel how they would be able to rock up and get the job done. As the streak got longer the pressure increased because everyone was motivated to try and knock them over but they still managed to raise their game to a level above the opposition. Subiaco must have had a few days during this streak where they were playing very ordinary football but still mananged to find a way to get over the line against a motivated opposition. Of course having elite players is very important to maintaining a streak like this but I think there has to be an element of team spirit/culture and motivation that keeps a group going when the game gets tough.

Fair enough Mike...I accept you were just making commentary on the run Subi is currently having but I think I can be forgiven for taking it the wrong way given the amount of crap that gets thrown at us and particularly so these days as I'm about the only Subi regular on here...but I take your point...it is some sort of winning streak but as I said, it doesn't mean a lot if you don't win the flag. 2016 we were beaten by a better side on the day but last year we only had ourselves to blame as I think we kicked 2.8 or similar in the 3rd which cost us dearly.

I think perhaps you were a little too sensitive, when a team is looking at going through undefeated in a season and was unbeaten in all qualifying games last year it is a logical thing to reflect on history and previous records.
At the moment its hard to see anyone getting as close as West Perth just have and Subiaco still have a couple to return.
The way it is panning out at the moment it seems like only a fully ladenFremantle/ Peel side could do it and even then its only a could.

I think its a valid post and as I stated a few months back it was a real possibility, the fact that its taken this long for it to be broken and that given the extraordinary events over that time, indicates that enormous gap in the comp..basically it a warning sign that all is not well in the wafl , its at a real low, despite winning interstate games.
If it was a litmus test, we would be in code red territory. all being said I can see why a Subi supporter would be uncomfortable with it.

...And it would be fair to say that the record if it's achieved in a fortnights time, will be a long standing one. With Subiaco having 7 more qualifying fixtures remaining, is it unreasonable to suggest they will not drop a Home and Away fixture this season? Feats of that nature do not happen very often.

I have no fears of saying my piece, this firmly indicates a massive red flag in the operations of this magnificently run club.

Yes, I think it will be remembered by most WAFL supporters. The unfortunate thing for the Subi people, it will probably be remembered for the wrong reasons.

What is even more remarkable is this near record 30 consecutive home and away wins has happened with a supposed salary cap & points cap system introduced and supposedly stringently policed by the WAFC to even up the WAFL competition! #majorfail

And I wonder if our super dooper media will pick the story up if Subiaco defeat Souths to give them the record?
If it were the Socceroos, a cricket team, or a rugby side had won 30 odd consecutive qualifying matches, it would no doubt be splattered all over the media whether you liked it or not!
. A Wafl club might not get a mention.
It will be a huge milestone if they can do it. Probably something I'll never see again.

I don't think it's such a big deal personally...if it included finals and the team had been undefeated for 2 years then yes, I agree it's a terrific effort....imo qualifying games are just to get you into finals...no more, no less and once there, you need to win the bloody things which we haven't.

30 consecutive wins in the home and away competition is apparently no big deal???
It is a complete and utter joke that it is even possible in this modern era with a supposed salary cap & points cap system designed to even up the WAFL comp (they were non existent in 1946).......if it is being stridently policed by the WAFC of course?!?!?!
