They must be doing far better financially than they are letting on. An extra 100 or so non members spending on average $20 each buying drinks and food in your social rooms makes a big difference, 10 home games adds around $2k per game or $20k per year, how many new members do they need to match that? Elitist wankers!!

What is the incentive to become a member if any idiot can go into the "members" area? Why would you bother buying a membership if that's the case?

The facility looks mint!

Swans certainly have plenty of West Perth people enjoying the Swans members facilities for a drink and a meal on game day, good place to go for a drink and a feed before you find a place to watch the league game.

It's about supporting your club. I'm a member of Subi but sit in the stands with everyone else.

Depending on what type of liquor license West Perth are granted will depend on who can enter their licensed premises.

Club restricted Liquor Licenses allow for members and their guests to be permitted entry. Guests must be accompanied by a member and can generally only be a guest a small number of times before they are required to become a member themselves under RGL requirements. Club restricted licenses also allow for recipricol membership rights on game day to allow opposition members to also enter the host clubs licensed area. From what I understand opposition members aren’t able to bring guests.

The only people that should be affected are West Perth supporters who don’t want to purchase a West Perth membership.

Venues West and the JCC control everything, they get a disbursement each year. They don't have their own rooms

Heard this on 6pr over the weekend.

Honestly don't know what the big drama is, its always been the case that members had an exclusive area only they could access, that is the whole point of membership.
This was very strongly policed in the big days of WAFL, I remember it being near on impossible getting into the SFFC members pavilion without a pass.
As crowds dropped , so did standards and clubs became desperate for trade so let just about anyone in, in a way this is going back to how it should of been, also as far as I know clubs are still bound by rules regarding service of drinks to members and members guests, it wasn't that long ago that you had to be signed in as a visitor to a club to have a drink.

Yep correct, although its virtually never policed anymore since the demise of the L and G Squad, I cant remember the last time I saw a members guest sign in book at a WAFL club, at EPFC or Subi if they are open for an away game anyone can just cruise in there and buy a beer. It is possible they had their Licences amended or got Occasional Permits to allow it.

The Wafl needs to welcome all to the games. All you see at Wafl games are the same old faces.Swans allow all into there members so do Subi.Subi even have a sign( all welcome).Give it a year or two West Perth will be the same as the rest. While it's a closed shop it will be a good place to host guests and sponsors.

Think licensing rules have changed over the years. I recently updated my cricket club's constitution and had to include various provisions to satisfy RGL before getting it approved by Dept of Commerce. Pretty sure visitors books are no longer required with reciprocal and temporary membership categories covering what most clubs do these days. Of course, if they don't have those provisions in their constitution then they are limited on who can legally be served alcohol on the premises. Sure all clubs would have those categories though as they are standard inclusions in constitutions.
