Fark ...Percy got the piss taken out of him by the entire world of footy panel on a regular basis , not to mention a heap of opposition and sometimes even his own supporters over the fence!

Mate you can do whatever you like and I dont think my opinion or that of other posters are going sway you in any case.

I was also taught by my parents to respect and admire people with resumes like Percy irrespective of personalities and not be petty and throw stones and ridicule. Maybe I am old fashioned but thats a quality I like in a person.

there is also the point that volunteers should be given respect no matter what you think of that person and look for the good in a person and what they do.

WAFL clubs are full of volunteers and i respect any bloke in his 80's who gives up his whole saturday from before the colts start and other nights during the week for free to help develop footballers..

to laugh at that person or think his behavior is sad for the odd outburst here and there say more about them than the volunteer.

I usually stand within 5 metres of Percy at most home games I attend. he is a fkn brilliant listen throughout the game on match day. Generally has me laughin my arse off...not sure if i've met a man who loves his footy more and his support of he young fellas coming thru at the club never waivers. Not sure where this 'carry on' mumbo jumbo towards umps comes from. Nothing more than the odd bit of laughter and "you gotta be jokin" when a deplorable decision has been made. I challenge any on here to join me and come stand in the vicinity of Perc at a SD home game and not enjoy the banter. Always clean, always in good humour, gotta respect his passion.

Thanks to MO and the other Swans and non-Swans supporters who have been supportive of the great work and commitment of Percy does up at Swans.

Just who does Percy think he is? Doesn't he realise that in his 80s he should know his place? That is, he has past his use by date; he has nothing to offer the modern footy player. Of course that is not my view; BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY it is not the view of the many young footy players who are better players because of his help.

As has been said the critics of PJ should perhaps come down and have a look at the respect he is afforded by the young guys he has helped.

This is Australia every one is equal, you get praise for the good and criticism for the bad. We are becoming a bunch of G-string lickers fauning over celebrity. I have witnessed him being funny and knowledgeable. I have seen him being a fool and being very ungracious to an opposition Colts team. I'm sure he won't lose any sleep over those comments and equally he doesn't pay my bills. Pack of old tarts carrying on, thank god some footy kicks off this weekend.

LB Percy celebrity. What we admire and I think I can speak for others on here is that we have a guy in his 80s who still makes a worthwhile contribution to a sport he has loved for 70+ years.
