anchorman wrote: Swandog I was just checking something out on Youtube and came across a request by you to WAFL footy archives for the Derby,South Fremantle V East Fremantle at Shark park in 1983.It was a request from you when on Footygoss.
The game was a clinker .It was played on the 6th of June 1983.
I was there that day.And just check out the crowd.
Your request was made in 2011.Great viewing.

anchorman wrote: Yeah it was a great game.So exciting. How big was the crowd. What would clubs give to have a crowd like that now days.
I still get goose bumps watching snippets of TI.
Charlie Carters kick must have gone 90 metres.LOL

Haha yeh memorable days of our great comp, I have DVDs of SD v South from that era at Basso and also a packed Freo oval, footy that stacks up v today easily, in fact players from that era were more footy aware I don't care what anyone reckons and more skillfull too. Todays players are skilled (AFL and WAFL) but that's when they are 30m clear of anyone (More so AFL) at least todays WAFL is more like the old days than AFL, back then it was one on one, Baker v Rioli, Narkle v Vigona, Boucher v Michaels, Shine, Barrett, Holmes, Winmar, Langsford, Winmar etc etc the list goes on and on. With Vigona one of the most skilled of the lot, in fact I have had a former WAFL/VFL player tell me that Vigona was the Burgoynes rolled into one - only better- even more skilled than Rioli and P.Narkle which is saying something!
Great days watching as a kid!

Grassy wrote: Bringing these guys back to Celebrate at EVERY turn, would help the kids of today appreciate what they have playing WAFL Footy.

And I don't care if the players come from 1940's and 50's,let's Celebrate those Men as well.Give 'Em a Real Buzz again! And Again,if possible. :cheer:

Even to the point,WEST PERTH celebrate 1951 or SWAN DISTRICTS 1961.Any excuse folks.Seriously!

Every club can find that extra Avenue to Celebrate a Premiership or Legend/s before the Faithfull many times over,or as much as humanly possible!Maybe we can say -

Build Up Our Legends Again and They Will Come!

Maybe something simpler than that, but it's a start!

Swans regularly celebrate the flags of the 60`s with a packed out clubrooms! Testimony to our supporters. I`m sure its the same at Perth. When I get the chance to chat with Dennis again when he pops into work I will ask if he is going to get back and devote some time to WAFL preservation now his AFL days are up at seasons end. He has told me in the past that his retirement plan is to pay homage to WAFL history and also sit on the banks watching West Perth

There was Controversy at PERTH Oval that day as well, involving Clint and Alex, but for reasons less memorable.

Hopefully, those 2 have shook hands since.

Clint Roberts and Alex Hamilton?

But when possible, bring them out on the Oval as well.In Guernseys or Smart Club Shirts, with say Premiership of '61 or 1952 - 60 for example. Not every guy played in a Premiership side, but he'll,let's salute as many players as we can.

Yeh agreed mate, the Vics get all the accolades while our old heroes the equal of them get lost in the Vic Centric AFL

From the Days of Ross Elliot's Football Register, how long did it run for?

1990 was the last one from memory. :(

Yep from the 83 register, or should I say Bible. 1990 was the end of it unfortunately
