the facts
1.perth has 2.02 million residents and adealide only 1.30 million and still gets more people to the footy.

2.went to a ten team competition in 1964 and realised their mistake and went back to a nine team comp in 1991.(we should've got rid of peel)

3.they owned and built eastlake which the sanfl own. What did we do.Instead of redeveloping perth oval (even george g was in favour) we decicided to redevlop subi and made it into 43,000 stadium that fitted in less people.

4.they have at least listened to the afl clubs and gave them what they basically wanted.we didn't and have a alignment which is not what the eagles or dockers asked for.

yes all true chaddy.
but we cant change the past now.
our history is littered with mistakes and wrong turns.
How can we either fix it, or slow the flow of decline ??
The SA way is the only way.

WAFL clubs, boards and presidents have to stand together as one and stamp hard until change is made. Yes this should have happened before but the 7 clubs will now have to do it alone. It must be unified to the core and relentless. For the sake of the next decade at least because outside of that we are gone if there is no new united front. I am sure most East Perth supporters would love that and as for Peel, they may as well be called Fremantle. They may actually get a crowd down there. 10 teams, no byes, all even, some credibility restored to a degree. Or we are dead - its that simple.

Some VERY VERY good points, the population difference is a damning indctement on the appaling state of WAFL attendances.

I cannot think of a single sporting organisation in the country that has made more wrong turns than the WAFL and WAFC, its been a litany of disaster. rushed into the VFL and paid top dollar, the shambles that is Subi Oval that is unowned by them, Indian Pacific, bankruptcy, The rushed introuction of the dockers, the introduction of peel, the alignment deal, it goes on and on.

Saying all that SANFL always had higher attendances than WAFl even in the hey day, however they had a bigger population than us at the time, now they are belting us with less people.

SA people are far more into local footy , you see it promoted proudly everywhere, it is an intergral part of state culture. also bear in mind the state is a bit poorer has less disposable bucks than WA, yet they support their local clubs far better.

WA is a front runner state, it only loves the hype of the big stuff and the media are to blame a lot for this, local media pump up the two AFL mobs so much that it is bordering on brian washing, its done huge damage, SA is more worldy its closer to Vic and has a lot of state pride in its SANFL and tribal history, its been wiped out here.

You only had to hear Basil Zempalis on 6PR in the discussion with Hagdorn this morning. After discussing last's game their discussion was something like this: Well no Eagles game this weekend with the bye. So what can we do? Put your feet up, gardening, fishing etc BUT no mention of going to the local WAFL football. What a disgrace! AFL sycophants!

Hard to believe Zempalis played for West Perth. He doesn't give a stuff about them. Half the problem is the media, Im sure they think all the players are produced in an AFL factory in Melbourne somewhere.

Its actually a great round of wafl footy this weekend. Great weather and a chance for people to go. Half the town wouldn't know because none of the media outlets know themselves, like you said.

Agree this weekend is a brilliant round of WAFL footy and to have that turncoat prick Zemplis not mention the WAFL as you have stated is an atrocity

This coward of a WA media man I heard from reliable source was instructed by his employer channel Bully to not mention the West Perth Footy club in any fashion in any media - screen, radio or print
and what does this piss poor so called WAFL supporter who is also the #1 ticket holder at West Perth do.... he cowers and complies

I appreciate he's in an unenviable position, as is Denis - but given that and as he, Basil was publicly shown to be our # 1 supporter 'then give it back publically
Not likely for this media egotistical sycophant. He doesn't need it any way as this excuse for a supporter has NOT been to a single game or function - PISS HIM OFF!!

We in WA have managed to remove the sweet core of our society while keeping the peel intact
We do out best to be like a Melbourne or Sydney while not seeing the riches in being West Australian
The Barnett and preceding Gov abused the royalties received by mining and did almost nothing tangible for the states infrastructure or tourism specifically and now its hitting the average man again for monies to prop them up, disguising there failures, an example of this, their pointing fingers elsewhere eg GST from the federal Gov - its all smoke and mirrors. See how many times they have gone to the lengths of now keeping any information from we the people who placed them into power, by the states Gov Gen own mouth!!!! Bastards of the highest order

There is much to learn from the SANFL and Sth Aust generally - if you destroy your heritage - your history, you cut the roots and the tree bleeds and falls - We in the west allowed the cutting of our roots long ago and continue to hack away at any semblance of local pride
I say we and its our fault - we do nothing but sit back and point a finger of frustration and wrath at those failing us and yet do little to change the tide flowing against us.

Petition.org is one ... letters to pollies another, continued letters to presidents another, making the WAFL presidents answer questions when we see them another and so on.

I find it an embarrassment to all the clubs senior supporters to have to watch how the WAFL is being slowly eaten away. From their years of watching a proud local sporting body and club structures to know having to kick and scrape to the AFL bully along with its media mogul mistresses/masters.

Its an unbelievable travesty to watch the AFL treat the WAFL with absolute disrespect and the media along with this when its a fact that we are the river that leads to their SPORTS ocean - WE (the states) are there lifeblood unless they believe they can glean ALL their next draftees and rookies from Africa, America, Ireland, Basketball, Baseball or a rookie show on TV????
Most all WAFL clubs show local pride and present events of cultural significance in their own way and the most successful event to date (purely by spectator numbers and overall marketing)is put on by the West Perth's international round this weekend shows what can be done - A BIG thanks to go to CHANNEL 9.

Look on WAFL and AFL - you are in a badly run last place here and you should be ashamed .... Ashamed!!!!

Yep Zemplis always astounds me , its like his time at WP never happened.

but he plays the AFL straight bat, you only have to read some of the pro AFL nongs on here , they claim to be wafl fans, but never go to games, but then fly across a continent to watch some fake club play in the Afl.

I still piss myself laughing over some joker pissing in Zempilas's pocket or more likely pulling the piss on the TV one day saying he could have played in the AFL!
Zempilas would actually believe it too but the truth was he was as useless as I have ever seen in my 35 years of following the WAFL!
