lighting at wafl grounds are not up to scratch for tv telecasts.I've had problems picking up players at night games so i can see the reasoning. If they want a televised night game it has to be subi.

This time last year rd 1 started without a whimper.
Get involved or stay home and keep complaining, the latter hasnt worked so far.

How do you expect all wafl supporters to get behind this game? I will be at Leederville.

My understanding is that East Fremantle have been financially compensated for the game to be played at Subiaco.

Madness playing WAFL games at Subi.

The 3000 -4000 attendance will lead to zero atmosphere and turn prospective fans away.

Stupid
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Mate they won't get anywhere near that attendance.

I imagine the idea was that the opportunity to start the season off with a live broadcast on a Saturday night at peak viewing time, with no AFL to go up against was very tempting - and Subi oval would be the only place that has lights suitable for broadcasting night footy. The trade off being a lack of atmosphere due to a small crowd - but I for one am rapt that they are being bold and are trying something. I'll be watching the Subi v Claremont game at Leederville and then heading over to Subi oval to support the initiative. Honestly - the promotion of this season has been about 2000% more than any I can recall in 28 years, and I don't understand the negativity.

I am with you Singha. They are only using subi once so why the uproar. It's more about channel 7 who can see a spot in prime time where they can fit a wafl game and at the same time promote the fact that they will be televising wafl games(even if it is not every week).I am sure they are hoping to pick up a audience who don't normally watch wafl.A lack of atmosphere is not confined to wafl with some afl games lacking any due to low crowds or teams with little support playing home games against interstate teams. The main thing is we have two full rounds of wafl to start the year before the afl to generate interest rather then the bad fixturing of old where only a couple of games start the year.
