I thought your board made the decision Grump not the members or supporters. I suspect that if the board didn't, EP would be merging or folding from what was reported. Now you have money, ten wins in a row, a gig at next year's Foxtel Cup and a Premiership Cup on its way so I'd say your board made the right decision.

Whomever is responsible for the decision, they are responsible for reducing East Perth to a club which exists in name only. Gone is their history and when the Eagles desert them that too will be gone.

The coach of EP and Peel has to be approved by the respective AFL aligned club. The reasons are pretty obvious

It was the board but was there more we (I) could have done to dissaude them, not sure and will never know.

As for the history I can always recall the great players that I have seen and worked for, the David Bains, Peter Cransberg, Michael Christian, Cookie Bryant,The Mad Russian were some of the good guys who I recall as part of the history of the black and blue!

No quarrel with the likes of you Grump; I am fully cognisant that you are not supportive of the decision. Those who made the decision should hang their collective head in shame and for those in the two WA domiciled AFL clubs who brought about this decision are a disgrace and any lip service they pay to the WAFL should be treated with absolute contempt and disdain and deserve to be treated with complete opprobrium. As for the current WAFL Commissioners . . .

I dont think Dead Line is the right word as if they pick the wrong guy they will both be Dead :(

Just further to the Coaching at Aligned clubs here is an article that clarifies the coaches of those two "clubs"... if you can call them that

Under the new agreement, the seven non-partner clubs will have their annual grants increased from $425,000 to $525,000, while East Perth and Peel will receive grants totalling $350,000.
But West Perth president Brett Raponi told Radio 6PR that increase was unlikely to off-set other potential losses of income.
"If you have a 10 per cent drop in crowds, members and sponsors on a turnover of $1.5 million, that's $150,000 gone right there," Raponi said.
"We might get an extra $100,000 but if we're losing $150,000, then there's a $50,000 hole."
The AFL clubs were unhappy with the current arrangement and had wanted instead to field stand-alone reserve teams in the WAFL so they could better manage their players.
But that bid was unanimously rejected several times by the WAFL clubs, ultimately leading to this week's deal with East Perth and Peel - a partnership Raponi described as meaning neither club would worry about how to pay their bills for the next five years.

Fremantle and West Coast will also have the final say in appointing the senior coach of their aligned club.
Peel and East Perth will maintain their logos and names.

Lots of time with Glen, a truly good guy and still gives back to the club through the Melbourne Royals group who provide some financial support to country players, last year it was Giblett, not sure who this year. Last time I talked to him he was an asst coach at St Josephs with a few ex players.
