This is modern marketing 101. The reality rarely matches the pre-sale hype. Watch all the beneficial "promises" of the alignment (TV coverage, $$, marketing) dissipate in rapid time now its a done deal. They wanted a competition - they've got one at a bargain basement price.

The big problem was it was always one united voice (Freo, WC and WAFC) against 9 self interested clubs. The WAFC never cared for the WAFLs interests. The WAFL presidents got played on the break on this one. They never had a unified position on their preferred option - or even their least worst option- which was mistake number two. Third, they flaffed and farted over what has proven to be the least worst option offered - WC and Freo with THEIR OWN reserves team. Couldn't agree, didn't agree, broken fingernail, whatever. Massively, collectively, flaffed the entire negotiation process and played right into the warloads lap.

Not much left to threaten the AFL warlords with apart from a boycott. Unless....there is a legal avenue to pursue...failure of disclosure or to negotiate in good faith maybe? If the G7 Prez Massive have managed to drag themselves off the floor yet I hope they are pursuing some legal advice.

If the incompetent c/heads of the WAFC finally kill off the WAFL in the future, where will they end up? They'll be the overseers of a comp that does not exist. Perhaps they see themselves as future dork and eagle board members....you know, paid off in silver pieces? The sad thing is, that a majority of east eagle and peel dork supporters have a hard on over this. The other sad thing is that today's generation don't care about what is happening, nor do they care. I think the 7 WAFL clubs should pull the trigger...boycott the 2 AFL teams. After all, what will happen? Are they going to kill the comp? I've never been a true unionist, but in this case....head down, arse up and just go for it. My post may be too emotional, too over the top, but our WAFL has been hurt!!!

Doesnt the WAFC basically run both the WAFL and the Eags and Freo? Therefore IF they indeed do, why the hell are they going to "worry" about the WAFL, when the jewels in the crown (and ensuing money tree) are all thet matters. Personally i thinkits a bl00dy disgrace, at least us "vics" still "kept" our VFL clubs ( Fitzroy the only casuality), whereas the WAFC has effecively sold the heart and soul of WA footy. Like 58 said the kids wont care, they are all either Eags or docks, and few very few worry about the WAFL. Sad times indeed

They need us more than them i reckon and im not talking $ What are they going to do if 7 clubs boycott? start their own comp with 2 teams? ahahaha the WAFL clubs hold the aces i reckon, but unfortunately 2 clubs didnt see this and folded.
I dont reckon i have hated Freo and the Eagles more than now, i hope they both are riddled with injuries this year and their seasons go down the shitter!! And any G7 club fans who follow WCE and Frem..well you should drop them if your true to yourself and your WAFL roots!

The G7 should boycott all games against East Perth and Peel for the entire season. If they are threatened with legal action etc, then just send out a mixed colts/reserves side like John Todd did for the Escort Cup match Swans played against Richmond back in 1982. Give the AFL sides little or no practice at all.

To be honest dog, you should redirect your hate. The Eagles and Dorks are doing nothing more than any other football club and that is, trying to improve their infrastructure. Your hate should go towards the 2 ex WAFL clubs that sold out for the proverbial 50 pieces of silver!! Karma's a great thing mate....in a few years time the name east perth will only be a suburb of Perth and peel will be what covers a lemon ;)

Seeing the ex wafl was sold down the river by the so called football commission and the two mentioned teams, I'd say your promotions friend had no say in the matter! He probably wasn't even consulted on the matter and maybe feels bloody gutted like the rest of us. I know one of the alignments didn't even consult members, supporters or wafl fans until it was too late  :(
Maybe he's just being told what to do?

Yes that's true Leo. For example, mention the wafl to the young ones and they'll wonder what the bloody hell you're talking about. And a lot of the so called mature people couldn't give a tinkers toss either! Society seems to have been dumbed down to a certain degree over the past twenty years or so. I find it sad.

I think he's quite a good commentator. But, like most of them, I'd say he's got an eye on higher duties. There are very few journos around who give a tinkers toss about the WAFL. There are a couple around, but for most it's a meaningless competition.
