I've noticed in the last few years more and more opposition supporters infiltrate our can bar area at Lathlain Park. It is getting to the point where there seems to be just about equal or more of them than our own. I don't go in there often but I was in there in the second half yesterday but what I couldn't stomach was Swans supporters chanting Swaaaanies..... Swaaaanies.... late in the last qtr in the pig pen while their side was kicking our arse.

I arced up about it and said hey cut it out, if you want to start that crap go and stand amongst your own. One of them turned around with a can in hand and said we are drinking your beer. Sorry that doesn't give you the right to start chanting for your own team in the opposition members and supporters area. And the can bar on the hill was open and being well patronised.

I reckon if I started chanting Deeeemons.... when we get a run on at Basso Oval in the Swans members area I would soon be wearing a black ripple sole DB up the arse. I've drank in the Swans and other opposition team areas before but I am mindful about where I am. I don't mind Swans supporters, we always pull a good crowd but show a bit of respect fella's.

To add further, you can't even sit in the grandstand if you are an opposition supporter up at Joondy. I went there once as a neutral at a WP V SUBI game a few years ago and got questioned by security. I said I'm a neutral supporter mate and my friends are WP supporters and were allowed to stay.

I dont mind them there DD. Separates us from UK soccer. If we win a few they will be silenced.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

I didn't mind then yesterday DD. The banter was good and I didn't find them disrespectful at all. We can't afford to be picky and chosey with who we let in. Gone are the days we get 20 thousand to the game.

So you two didn't mind the Swaaaaanies.... Swaaaaanies chant in the pig pen with about 5 min to go? IMO that is disrespectful and a sign you blokes will cop anything. See how you go cheering the Demons on in their supporters drinking area.

I wont cop stupid abuse and crap DD. There was good banter amongst both Perth and Swans supporters in the pig pen yesterday. The swannnnieessss chant is something that Swans fans are known for. A bit like the reddddddlegggggss chant. I've been into the South Freo bar this year and Swans area in years gone bye and chanted for the Demons and not had any problem.

Were you one of the Perth supporters involved in a brawl after the game? Lol, that went down well with South supporters.

Come off it BH, if I started carrying on like that amongst your lot under the balcony of your club rooms I would be wearing a can of Emu Export in the back of the scone.

I witnessed this very same scenario at Shark Park back in 2011. It was Perth supporters who had entered or gained access to the members area. after the initial penetration there was permeation. and than there was vocalization of their support. they articulated it the very same way as you described (from memory) - "demons, demons" or "Perrrrth!". mostly there was a lack of interest or concern about this. perhaps worringly there was a lack of emotion or feeling. in general. a few east freo supporters were not so impassive. "a slanging match" then pervaded. one east freo fan i thought behaved very childishly. i remember feeling embarrassed for this man. i agree with the poster who drew the english football comparison. i think they are not permitted to drink with a view of the pitch. and have to be segregated from each other for such is their intolerance. they have crowds lacking the little ones and females - particularly in comparison to aussie rules or rugger.
