Bolton and Keitel are 2 obvious names Freez that surely must figure in state team calculations. At least Keitel made the squad before being told he's not playing  Last season Boekhurst was another curious non selection despite a flying start to the season that secured a Sandover medal.

I bet the food at Adelaide Oval is better than the WACA.

Well that is certainly a concern BC even though the game is between lunch and dinner time. Adelaide oval does have a good rep for catering and hospitality. They could well edge us if the WACA were to be a state game venue.

SS, it's a tough call I guess, especially these days when no side plays 2 specialist rucks.....and winning the most hit outs doesn't cut the mustard either....look at Clarke v EF last weekend....50 + hitouts but EF mids dominated the clearances and inside 50s. I guess England provides more round the ground efficacy. But agree Clarke and England are both athletic for their size.

Ti Em, perhaps age counted against the likes of Clarke, Bolton, Nelson etc.... especially since this is often a mid season draft audition for certain players from both states. Quite surprised Jaiden Hunter didn't get a gig, if this is the case. Though Jupp and Eardley aren't youngsters are they?..so who knows the logic behind the team selected.

Good luck to the WA team, touch wood they can square the win / loss ratio v the Croweaters.

How the heck they leave out match winners like Bolton, Black & Nelson is beyond me.
You pick the best available team to do the job not this thing of younger players.

I think that it's a personal thing between Supercoach and Bolton.

                 And surely Nelson from West Perth should have been an inclusion! (Not unless he was injured last week?)
He has been in West Perth's best players list on a very regular basis.

Yes first quarter even, 3rd quarter WA were on top but SA dominated the 2nd and last quarters. If they had kicked straight would have been a 6 goal margin.

So now we wait and see how many WAFL players will nominate for the mid season draft. Nominations close next Wednesday and the draft will be on 31st May.

Most AFL clubs will have at least one list spot available so we could see up 4 - 6 players taken from their WAFL teams mid season which is very disruptive for planning. Great for the players to get an opportunity I guess but when they are often just replacing a long term injured player (e.g Culley at West Coast) chances are they will get discarded once the player is back and healthy.
