So another Saturday has come and gone and we are starting to get an idea of what teams are expected to do well this season, and who is going to be battling it out for relegation.

My Saturday morning started with a lovely drive to Kelmscott, I was looking forward to what this day had to offer, knowing that anything less than 3 Simon's (Dont know what a Simon is? look it up) wouldn't satisfy me. And if you aren't down with that i've go 2 words for ya....

The colts game was a typical colts game. Quite tough at the ball early on, but as the sun kept rising so did the temper of some of the players. There are 3 certainties in life.. death, taxes and South of the River teams loving a biff. Some Kelmscott players were interested in trying to replicate moves from the WWE with elbow drops and little punchs being the theme of the day. The game was quite close but Wanneroo kicked the last 4 goals of the game to have a good win.

The Reserves was the same a nice tough battle with a few little biffs along the way. Kicking at goal seemed to be the problem for Wanneroo as kick after kick sailed through the points, when Wanneroo finally did kick a goal a Kelmscott player was sent of for absuing the goal umpire. Wanneroo ran out winners by a couple of goals.

The league game was another cloes battle. Number 14 from Kelmscott kicked the first two goals of the game, (a special mention to that player though, wearing his previous clubs shorts and socks with his Kelmscott jumper, great look)
The game was fought out like the previous 2 games, with a tough contest, Kelmscott had players who liked to run, but once they were shut down Wanneroo got themselves back into the conest and came out winners by 16 points.

So Wanneroo came away with 3 Simons
Looking forward to hearing how the other games went, heard there was a report in Thornlie game.

traveled down to Gosnells to watch the Gosnells v CWP match

watched 3 quarters of the magoos, Gosnells were in complete control all game, looking faster, more skillful and hungry than the boys from yokine. not really too much more to add on that.

the league game was a good spectacle, proving how tight this comp could be this year. personally i thought CWP would just win this game based on their form last week against the onions. The first half was a cracker with both sides going goal for goal, in a tight tussle, Gosnells seemed to get on top late with a couple of good goals towards the end of the 2nd quarter.

the third quarter saw Gosnells control the footy and the forward entrys, but their wasteful shots on goal kept cooly in the game. the CWP benches were becoming increasing frustrated as Gosnells got on top, culminating in an old fashioned spray at 3 quarter time, much to the delight of all involved at Gosnells.

CWP got within 5 points early within the final quarter but then surprisingly surrendered to Gosnells who kicked away to secure an easy 8 goal win, throughout the second half (from a spectators view) they seemed hungrier, more physical and clinical with the football and thoroughly deserved the final result on the scoreboard.

Kingsley V Kingsway

Colts:
Good hard fought game of footy that the Cats were able to continue on in there early form and downing the Roo's by 20 points

Reserves:
Good Fought out game throughout. A bit of emotion running through the game when some old team mates met each other out on the park. The Roo's out ran the Cats in the last and held on to a 10 point win.

League:
Well, although the Cats lost the game, the real losers on the day were the umpires. I don't think I have seen a worse display of umpiring. It left spectators speechless at times, as well as players on the ground confused about who's ball it was and why they were getting free kicks. I could go on about it, but whats done is done. But would be interested to see from anyone else that was at the game what they thought! At the end of it Roo's ran out 9 goal winners.

This week Kingsway have Melville at home and Kingsley are up against Cooly. Both games will see how all 4 clubs are really travelling.

So Kelmscott have not changed from thier bogan ways of last year. Last year a friend and I copped abuse from thier feral supporters just because we cheered for our team Im sorry to say Kelmscott but you are the bronx.

Lynwood had a good win round 1 and lost by a few goals round 2 against Melville. That would suggest that they are definitely going to be competitive.

Wanneroo and OR looking very strong.

Looking like OR, Gosnells and Melville are the power teams for the reserves which shows good depth.

Anyone have a write up on the Melville vs Lynwood game? I missed it.

Hi Rooty, we played Melville on the weekend and they were just too strong for us in both grades. We played well in parts but over the course of the four quarters they played better for longer periods. Man that oval is small, which helpsp the way they play their football.

Hi premiership hangover,

One of my mates played his first game for you on Sat in the league (was away round 1).
How did he go out there?

Hi Whitey, the big fellow - thats who i presume you speak about - did well and will be better for the run. He can add something to our side as he gets used to how we move the ball. If nothing else he gives a big contest when he gets involved.

That's the one, we played a fair bit of footy together a few years ago. Saw him on Sunday and he said that he had a kick. Cheers.
