Huge Game of footy this week, and expecting a bumper crowd down at Light street!

Brentwood take on Dianella Morley after mixed results throughout the year, we played DM at home in Round 1 and beat them fairly comfortably, then went out to light street in what can only be described as torrential rain and got beaten by a 5 points ( results were wrong, we scored 4 goals that day!) even though we had many more scoring shots.

This weeks game has the added bonus of promotion so there is heaps at stake! Plus the little advantage of playing in a grand final!

I think we are definitely up for the challenge, we have had 3 solid weeks of footy whilst finishing oppositions seasons and are looking to do the same here against a very strong Dianella side! I know we have our backs against the wall going down to their home ground but we had that last week against Balla as well and got the job done. At this stage of the finals I think anyone can win it, it is just who wants it more!

Again will be interesting on Thursday night when the teams are read out, not a good time of year to be coach, here’s hoping I make the cut for at least another week!!

This will be a great game. Both sides are good blokes so whoever makes the GF out of Brentwood or DM, I hope they flog the fuck out of Kenwick. But because we came up with Brentwood last year and got to know em a bit better, I'll take them for the win. Good luck fellas

Poor. There is usually a noticeable improvement compared with club umpires but for some reason that hasn't been the case this season.

Terrible in the C1 second semi final and im not just saying that from a Kingsway point of view as both sides were on the receiving end of some pretty baffling decisions. Good tough physical game within the rules yet the umpires wanted to stamp their influence with laughable 50 metre penalties and down the ground free kicks that resulted in goals. Let the players be the ones noticed and all would be OK!

Probably, because with club umpires you can get away with more ie back chat and little off the ball. With panel umpires I'm sure they wouldn't put up with any of that. Especially because they are coming from A Grade, A Reserves where the style of football is different (no offence to lower grades) but they aren't getting the backchat and off the ball niggle is limited. So really they are probably picking up the free kicks that the lower grade umpires (ie probably not the best ) miss... so they are doing it correctly. Thats in my opinion ofcourse.

The umpis are no better and probably worse than club umps .

think they are doing a good job, no complaints from our end, and in the finals series, I haven’t seen much said about them.

People always go on about umpires and yes I get the frustration, but at the end of the day, if you are good enough, umpires have nothing to do with it, sure close games bad calls etc etc, again if you are good enough umpires have nothing to do with it.

Now stop hijacking our thread and discuss the awesome spectacle that is the C3 Prelim final on Saturday !

I just wanted to weigh in on this one, regarding the umps.

Watched a game on Saturday, a really fantastic game until the farce in the last 5 minutes where Team A had come from being behind all game and led Team B by only a few points. With 5 minutes left a blatant push in the back to one of Team A went totally unnoticed by 2 umpires and then, Team B had 3 x forward 50 entries where each time the same ump blew the whistle 3 x for arm over the shoulder, resulting in Team B having 3 cracks at goal. While they only registered minors for each shot, the last one resulted in a turnover from Team A's kick in where a player from Team B got the ball and kicked the winning goal.

This may not mean much to the people reading this, however being there, and being a supporter of neither team, i thought was a little bit strange. But oh well, it happens!

On another note...

The Raiders and Bulldogs have had a good rivalry in the past and this game will no doubt continue it. It's anyone's game to take. Come on Doggies!
