True PH but some success is better than none. There wouldnt be a club in the country that would say they prefer no flag to a ressies flag.

Intriguing, are we talking about guys who haven't played a ressies game all year and who are likely to finish in top 5 for league team F&B, or are we talking about the newcomer to the club this year who started in the ressies and showed some form and got promoted up and is now being dropped back or maybe the cricketer who didn't do a preseason and also started in ressies before getting footy fitness and a league recall, or perhaps the club champ returning from a knee injury and will only end up with a handful of games for the year.

If clubs are doing the first that sucks but karma will get them, if it is the latter see nothing wrong with it. Good player management and often is a morale booster for the regular ressie players.

Agree that most clubs would want to be maximising their chances in the League Grade, but in the event that a negative result is inevitable (Swan Ath will be relegated) it would make sense to try and get as much league footy into fringe/junior players as possible. This may strengthen the ressies as clubs promote youth or experiment thinking about next year.

Last year North Beach for example dropped back 8-9 players that played League most of 2013 once their League got eliminated at the expense of of guys who played every game in the 2’s. Won a flag though but at what cost?

There so many possible explanations as to what some teams have good 2’s and poor 1’s, not all would be guilty of stacking.

I agree mate if a player has been in the 2s all year and gets dropped for this reason he will start looking for a new club

Have there been many instances of a club winning both a league and reserves premiership in the same season? Pretty tough ask especially with tanking to deal with but would clearly demonstrate that side as the superior team in their grade

RM - Despite Dianellas best efforts to stack their reserves in 2009, Manning won both the league (over Ellenbrook) and reserves (over Dianella) flags in what I believe was C grade before the Sunday league folded

Happens all the time - 2006 Hamersley Carine won the B grade & B Reserve flags and the B 3rds lost the GF.
That was D Gold in 2009, there were 2 equal C grades and 2 equal D grades.
