In the ressies, TAs where a lot cleaner with the ball than Wembley. Wembley were a lot more physical and crashed through more packs, but did next to nothing when they picked up the ball. 2 of the 3 Wembley goals I believe were in the last quarter, when TAs had all but sewn it up.

League was scrappy due to the weather and ankle high water freely flowing over the ground. Brentwood won the toss and opted to go with the wind. They control most of the play in the first, don't think Swans got an inside 50 in the first quarter (may have snuck in 45 from goal once). But Brentwood kept the scrappy kicks inside 50, at 1/4 time it was Brentwood 1.6 to Swans 0.0. 2nd quarter The View had the wind at their backs and probably more of the possession scoring 1.2 for the quarter & Brentwood got 1 straight, so at half time 2.6 to 1.2. Wind at the back after half time Doggies came out firing (and by firing I mean they got 2.3 in the third), again the wind proved too challenging for the Swans and they were held scoreless. Massive crowds around the huddles at 3/4 time to spur their teams on. And Swans dominated the play for the first 15 minutes of the final term. A couple of the Swans mids really shone, the one handed pick ups at full pace when its pissing down with rain is not something you usually see at amateur level and gave the swans plenty of inside 50 opportunities for their forwards. With around 10 minutes to go The View had tripled their score and were only a point behind, the ball was just being pushed backwards and forwards between the two 50s for what seemed like a lifetime. With about 5 minutes to go Brentwood got the inside 50, marked and goaled to make them 7 points up. Swans retaliated quickly, although missed the goal, getting a consolation point. Then it was just a frantic final 3 minutes with every player smashing the ball forward until the siren went, with the ball under a pack on the bar side wing. As Bulldog said, hard game and no one was giving up. Possession around the ground was pretty even the slippery conditions just made it very low scoring. The best on ground when to Brentwood's CHF (#17), who also had a run in the centre in the forth, & probably help in stopping the Swans charge. In my mind the game was played in pretty good spirits, a couple of scuffles but that can probably be expected with the emotion of the game.

20 years ago was Brentwood’s last league premiership and that was against Swan View. This game will definitely rekindle the rivalry and will be good to have many a for more matches against them next year.

Looking at the C4 next year, Secrets were only a few points away from moving up the grades so they look like the team to beat. The River and Jandakot showed what they can do though and I’m hoping for a big year from both of them so we can match off again sometime in the next few years.

Cheers guys and thanks for the banter!

Anyone hear what happened to the TAs reserves player that was bumped solidly in the first quarter and taken away by ambulance?
