Any oz footy go'er like to input on the C grade colts division?

The top 5 look fairly strong in Kingsley, Kingsway, Thornlie, Onion Ridge and Wanneroo. cant really see this changing except the order.

Kingsley look strong through the middle of the ground, probably best midfield in the division and are undefeated so far.

Kingsway, also have some good ball users in the midfield and deliver the ball well to their key forwards.

Thornlie, I have yet to seen this side play.

Onion Ridge play one on one footy, and their forward press sometimes pays off.

Wanneroo plays grinding footy, beating most teams on their ability to win contested football.

Anyone like to take a stab at finals predictions/final 5?

My guess is
Kingsley 16-2 (I think will loose to 2 out of 3 in Wanneroo, Kingsway, thornlie)
thornlie 15-3
Kingsway 15-3
Wanneroo 14-4
Onion 14-4

Roos V Kingsley grand final

Pretty strong colts division. Last season the ladder finished at
Thornlie
Bullcreek
Wanneroo
Kingsway.

Kingsley are a good team, but have alot of top age players. They did look good last weekend and you'd have to say that even losing a few games from here on in they will still finish top.

Thornlie still have a good colts teams like last season when they finished top of the ladder.but got bundled out in straight sets. Play tough contested football. Probably the best colts team in the competition.

Kingsway have good young players. Do have a quite a few WAFL colts players, but they should qualify for finals. Like other teams they do play players still eligible for colts in reserves and in league.

Wanneroo were Premiers last season after finishing 3rd. They also have some young kids plus plenty of players to choose from about 80 kids eligible for colts. Although about 4 play reserves and atleast 6 play league consistently. Only C grade club with 2 colts teams.

Based on what I have seen so far I'd say these 4 are the only chances to win the flag. I'd like to see a Wanneroo v Kingsway final. As I've already had a "vision" that Wanneroo may play Kingsway in all 3 grades come grand final day.

Top 5 is pretty much set with only the order between 2 - 5 to change as i think Kingsley have top spot to themselves. Kingsway have beaten both Wanneroo & Ocean Ridge (By about 4 goals in both games) and lost to Kingsley (20 points) and Thornlie by 10 goals however that was the day Kingsway had 18 colts away at the Music Festival down South so was hard to get a gauge on both sides and i do also believe that Kingsway will be missing 5 of there better players when the 2 teams meet in a few weeks time due to an overseas trip so it should be interesting. Kingsway's senior team will play finals you would think so the 4 - 5 colts playing there at the moment will stay up.

Kingsley clearly the best team in the 1st half of the year and you would expect them to thereabouts at seasons end. With there league struggling and clearly not going to play finals, they will be boosted by any colts players that will return and are the side to beat

Thornlie ticking along nicely in 2nd spot and are pretty much in the same boat as Kingsley regarding there Colts players so again will be strong at the business end

Wanneroo & Ocean Ridge are more than capable on their day of playing some very good football and certainly will challenge if they get it right on the day.

All in all i would say Kingsley would be slight favourites at the moment however i certainly do believe that any team in the top 5 is capable of beating each other at any stage from here on in so should make for a great 2nd half to the season.

Not sure what teams have heard, but going from previous results (not only last year but in clubs history) Thornlie have a reputation to choke in finals campaigns, and Wanneroo have been known to scoop the flag from the bottom half of the 5.

Agree, on anyone's day All 5 teams will be hard to beat. Still don't see Onion Ridge getting past the elimination final though.

1Percenters, welcome to Ozfooty,

Was thinking about starting a forum up on this colts division myself but worried about the lack of colts players focusing on this kinda of stuff..

Ladders to be as followed in my eyes

Kingsley - will finish top no doubt about it. however will they have same consistancy in finals? no doubt they will have a huge crowd at each game thanks to some silly decisions at the club which will see league and reserves both not making finals.

Thornlie - So many good players in this squad, however we all saw what happened last year, this side also likely to be relegated so will have strong crowd support come finals time. However you know what they say, A Champion team will always beat a team of champions... If thornlie can play as a team they would be dominating every team in this competition.

Wanneroo - as mentioned before plays real hard footy, focuses strong on the one-on-ones, and wins them! claim to be the best backline in the comp I've heard, however if thats true, it's not showing this year! As seen last year do enjoy the underdogs come final time!

Kingsway - Have come out of nowhere this year, really rated them to fall below their finish last year! Ronald Mcdonald (unsure of #) has really helped this team get up, can play any position and really makes an impact, shut him down and they wont stand a chance..

Ocean Ridge - always thought these guys would be strong, last year was a very competitive side, however lacked a key forward target, which ended up resulting in them posting low scores and losing games. Good to see them in the running this year, Have a feeling they will be the side to watch come finals time!!

As for this weekend

Gosnells V Kingsway
Ocean Ridge v CWP
Kelmscott V thornlie
Kingsley V Lynwood
Melville V Wanneroo

Top 5 teams playing the bottom 5 teams

Gosnells V Kingsway will probably be another tight one, with Kingsway only getting over the line by a goal last time, however having being the away side this weekend will be interesting to see if they can get the job done.
Kingsway by a goal (again)

Ocean Ridge v CWP, Ocean Ridge won by 100+ last time, will easily do it again this weekend

Kelmscott V thornlie. Another close game in round 1, 9 points if i remember correctly, same questioned asked, can thornlie do it away from home? easy!
Thornlie by 5 Goals

Kingsley V Lynwood. If kingsley win by any less then 80 points, there is something wrong,
Kingsley to start the second half of the season strongly by 105 points

Melville V Wanneroo
Melville has no team, Wanneroo by Forfiet

Well this conversation died quickly, I myself will hopefully bring it back!

The round just gone seemed to be a bit of an upset round in my eyes, other may have seen it differntly, this top 5 is just too close to call however!

Coolbinia West Perth (IDC) 0 0 0 0 0 0 10 5 65
Gosnells (IDC) 0 0 0 0 0 0 12 8 80

Kingsway (IDC) 0 0 0 0 0 0 14 13 97
Kingsley (IDC) 0 0 0 0 0 0 7 6 48

Thornlie (IDC) 0 0 0 0 0 0 6 3 39
Ocean Ridge (IDC) 0 0 0 0 0 0 10 10 70

Wanneroo (IDC) 0 0 0 0 0 0 12 11 83
Kelmscott (IDC) 0 0 0 0 0 0 7 4 46

and obviously lynwood with the bye/win over melville.

Focusing more on the battle of the kings, what happened kingsley? you're underdeated run was starting to look promising to remain that all year.
Any readers from either club able to elabourate?

another upset in my eyes would be Ocean Ridge up on Thornlie, any insights to that game?

also anyone able to comment on the altercation between wanneroo and kelmscott? anyone know the dickhead supporter?

My apologies on no game write up, unfortunatly due to leather poisoning I was sent away for a bit of R&R for the weekend.

Ah yes whynot, I'm very grateful for the sake of good footy, that Onion's and Kingsway had a win over teams that I would expect are better... I was wrong. Can't wait to see all 5 teams battle it out in September.

Was at the Kelmscott V Roos battle on the weekend, did not see the hero supporter but was told by the player wrestling with this man in the beanie, that they had a good exchange, with about three or four jumper punches each. Terrible for someone not playing to come onto the field, rumours that he is a suspended/ex/injured player? or possibly a friend of the Kelmy boys.

This all began when #21 Roos put a good solid fair bump on a kelmy player, as a handball was being released. The ball moved forward and #21 was attacked from the side with a coat hanger (forarm to the side of the head/neck, grounding the wanneroo player) with the ball only 5 meters away from them. Few more Kelmy boys ran to #21 to try get into him, no damage to #21 as he was defending haymakers and giving a few jumper punches. as soon as the other Kelmy boys were getting into them, about 8 from each team was in on the action. I'm sure that the umpire didnt give any cards, just held them in their hands hoping to see something, shortly after they threw the ball up and 5 wanneroo players were running down the wing into their forward line...

In another incident on the wing #9 wanneroo was pushed to the ground after a hard contest, then a wanneroo player sticking up for his player and a Kelmy guy were send off with yellows for wrestling...

@3QT the captains were briefed by the umpires and the game was completed in fairly good fashion.

All in all nothing to it, Wanneroo were going for the ball, and Kelmy wanted to go the knuckle.

Glad you rejuvenated the conversation whynot, Were you at any of the games

Sounds like a harmless bit of fun! would have loved to of been involved!

No Games for me last weekend, however this weekend should be a cracker of a game Ill be at

my tips are as followed

Ridge to beat Gosnells
kelmscott to lose to lynwood
kingsley to give CWP a touch up
kingsway with the bye
Thornlie to go down to wanneroo (MOTR)

the two remaining dominate teams from last year battling off this week, thornlie taking the goods earlier in the season on wanneroos own deck, what makes me think it will be a turn around?

from the looks of things thornlie have finally decided they might wanna attempt to kept their club in C1 grade, therefore from rumours ive heard a few colts are playing league footy, will that be the change? no.

Wanneroo are clearly underdogs having lost earlier in the year, however thats the way I like to think they like it down there. this i believe will help roos bring it over the line

I notice alot of people watching this post but noone commenting? do south of the river people not know how to use a keyboard? wouldnt surprise me...

I see that Kelmscott forfeited the colts last weekend and about a dozen players played reserves that played colts the week before. Obviously the week before against wanneroo when the reserves forfieted has had a flow on effect last weekend and we can only hope that this was a once off especially as the top 5 is pretty set and the last thing the comp needs is for teams that cant make the finals to start not showing up.

Kelmscott travel to Kingsway this week so hopefully they can field a side especially as Kingsway didn't play on the weekend due to the Melville "bye"
