It seems to be all falling apart at the Glory this funny old season. Of course Covid didn’t help but I think problems at Glory were brewing long before Covid. Sages on again off again partial sale to a fraudster, losing Davidson then letting Keogh go (or forced out), probably the latter. In fact I go back to last years GF when Poppa decided to start Keogh on the bench was a bad move.

Then a lot of new players came in underdone resulting in a slow start to the season, Ikonimidis struggled to get in the starting line up then gets injured. Castro pulls out of the interstate travel bubble.

No surprise to me they got pantsed again by Sydney who own them and now talk of Poppa having a Greek coaching gig lined up. He didn’t sound too convincing when he denied any knowledge of it. Ch 9 seemed pretty convinced he is gone. I reckon they know something.

As soon as the final whistle blew Ivan Franjic announced he is quitting Glory and flew straight home to Victoria. I reckon that’s just the start of it. New coach, new keeper and might be looking for a new marquee player or two I reckon.

Anyway the whole A league is in for a big shake up.

The Glory are currently not happy campers. A few players in the competition were grumpy about salary cuts due to the pandemic. Glory players were no different.
Apparently the Captain decided to go on holiday and I heard is suing the club.

Joel Chianese has left the club for Indian Super League club Hyderabad. He is a big loss, he really blossomed under Tony Popovic although strange his last start was only first game in the starting lineup in the bubble. He just kept getting better and better. He should be in the Socceroos squad for mine.

I reckon it's just the beginning BC. From the sounds of it things have gone sour with Castro and I'm not sure Fornaroli is all that happy although maybe with a new coach coming in it might freshen things up with a new game style. I think a big mistake Poppa made was not starting Andy Keogh in last years GF. He looked pissed off and well, we couldn't find the back of the net.

Keogh saw the writing on the wall he was 3rd or 4th in line behind Fornaroli, Ikonomidis and Chianese.... and said sayonara. I wonder how long it is before Poppas kids fly the coup?

Yes...I think a few players were pissed off his kids were getting a game ahead of others...Chris Harold for instance. They've done some pretty dumb things over the years. Not giving Jamie McLaren a starting berth and just brining him on as a parts player saw him off. Others like Adam Taggart, Scott Jamieson, Josh Risdon all quality players and all gone for one reason or another.

Do the real problems start at the very top for the Glory?
Sheesh they make some dumb decisions down there none more than selling (then reneging) the club to some dodgy Pommy geezer through his cryptocurrency mob.

Yeh exactly although I can’t stand Scott Jamieson with his constant smirk on his face. But McLaren that was a real doozy losing him and Taggart another talent and don’t forget Rhys Williams and Perth boy Rostyn Griffiths.

Josh Risdon I can kind of understand I think he wanted to get out of the Perth bubble to grow as a player and person and good on him, he has achieved that recognition and is in the first 11 of any Socceroos team now. Bit surprised he hasn’t attracted a decent overseas contract.

I do think Kristian Popovic is a real talent though.

Whole A league feel off the radar big time once the covid thing happened, Id be interested to see what the ratings where for it for the last few games. Barely had a heartbeat.

As for Glory - coach gone, just treading water since the GF Appearance and no doubt a massive amount of money lost this year, Sage has been trying to unload it for a while, but who would pick it up.

Not sure why Glory can't promote the assistant coach. He played a season at the club a while ago and has played in Europe too. Heard a story Bobby Despotovski still associated with the club and considering applying.
