Oh that's right we would still be waiting for it to be built if Emperor Barnett was still in.

Good to see that logic plays no part in your above post. The capacity for new stadium is something in the region of 18,000 greater than Subiaco Oval. Logically it follows that the attendance figures would be higher given the new stadium's greater capacity.

Could you please substantiate your claim vis a vis the Eagles having "one of the highest if not the highest" home ground attendance in the AF? Could you please provide the home attendances for the Eagles, Collingwood, Hawthorn and say Essendon for the 2018 season? Also, could you please provide the home ground attendance average for the Fremantle Dockers for the 2018 season?

numpties like you claimed it would be a failure due to the location, troglodytes that wanted it still stuck in Subi.

West Coast have this season become just the second AFL club in history to register six consecutive home attendances above 50,000 outside the finals.

Essendon were the only other club to achieve that feat, on their way to the minor premiership in 1999.

Richmond were the only club reach that mark in the old VFL competition, during their 1980 premiership campaign.

Bazza wrote: Another poor return on WA Tourism figures , just a 1% increase in total numbers while Tassie booms, and our total spend has collapsed.

I really have my doubts if it was really that good here anyway, I think the vast majority of visitors came here for work or business and once the boom demand dropped so did the visitors,

I reckon McGowan is dreaming with his plans that Tourism will somehow make up for the loss in mining, to make matters worse Emirates are dropping one daily flight.

Sport can play a roll for sure, event tourism around the stadium should help.

I still think there's more to WA tourism than a silly overpriced pedestrian bridge and a sports ground. The current / previous state government / s really don't have a clue because this debate has been previously stated a few years back. And no doubt again at some point in the future? Personally speaking, it's maybe too late because no concrete action has been taken in the positive. The state government tried an initiative some months ago with cheaper statewide airfares. I'm led to believe that 'conditions' were attached? Why have conditions attached to anything? That puts people off immediately! And also the state government are in the full knowledge that tourism is not the answer to anything. How can it be? The many problems and issues in the backyard needs fixing first!!
And that doesn't seem to be happening.
But I hope the state government stop these silly talk-fests and prove me wrong.

Not sure on the numbers take up of International and Interstate travellers for the Chelsea vs Perth Glory friendly at Perth Stadium last night but a crowd of 55k is a pretty good result and the pictures of the brilliantly lit up Blue Stadium beamed around the world were fantastic and should generate some interest in our great city...just a pity the name was changed to a hopeless telecom company instead of sticking to the original and best name-PERTH STADIUM!

Yep 55 521 is a huge result, and the stadium despite the rain looked awesome with those lights..
You will have noticed a large contingent of Asian EPL Fans that had traveled down from Singapore and Malaysia and even further away, EPL is massive in Asia.

I think this augurs well for more EPL team tours to Perth, wouldnt it be great if we could get Manchester United here, the turn out would be massive.
