healy mentionned five tests for the opener. If that is true than Smithy and Warner are, as people have suggestted, in trouble.

I suppose the question coming to mind is who replaces Smith as Captain? Could Marsh be promoted? Although unlikely to be chosen, Bailey would be a good choice. He's currently not playing in the test team and would have no connection with the tampering affair. The word is we'll hear on Wednesday whether Smith loses the captaincy.

What ever happens we will be near the bottom of the ICC rankings for a while, hard to replace some one averaging 62 and the other near 50, I suppose it opens up opportunities, I've heard Renshaw,Burns and Cartwright are on standby for the fouth test.

Worth a look - not so much as to the transgressions (because we already knew about those), but as to the penalties.

A coup[le of interesting articles popping up on the net about Warner, and an interesting one about Smith, not knowing about the ball tampering, but effectively throwing himself on the grenade.......

Watch this space, if you can believe one thing, its that Warner isn't real popular amongst his mates right now

ph: if he did not know, as the captain he should have known -- which also goes for Lehmann. It just how having privelge works if matters go wrong.

In that case he should only get one or two tests. Bancroft maximum of one test -- more a fine

Warner, of course, is a a different case entirely, it seems.

I think it’s obvious Warner is a cancer in the team. Smith should never be captain again, so what about Payne as captain and M Marsh as V/C for a year or 2 with a view of grooming him for the top job? Problem is the Mexicans over east wouldn’t allow this.
