I thought Bailey looked a bit sheepish when interviewed after the game. There was probably enough doubt in whether he was deliberatley blocking that George could have withdrawn the appeal and this was the point that McCullum was making to him after the game. Sometimes there is an opportunity to show sportsmanship over a win at all costs approach and Bailey missed that opportunity IMO.

yes, he just randomly decided to change his direction of running to run down the middle of the wicket to get in line with the stumps..
a total coincidence.

players play and umpires umpire, McCullum should take that attitude and accept the decision

I think he did MO and the decision was possibly technically correct. Mccullum ran out a Sri Lankan player ten years ago when he was celebrating a team mates century in the middle of the pitch and the ball hadn't been called dead. He regrets to this day not recalling that batsman even though as far as the laws were concerned it was the the correct decison to give him out. On my observation he has learnt a lesson and now walks the talk when it comes to fair play and the spirit of the game. He wasn't saying that the decision cost them and in fact he was quick to point out that the Hurricanes deserved to win.

he said he accepted the decision but then started talking about the spirit of cricket and put it back on Bailey which was not needed and has added to the drama.
accept the decision and move on.

The batsman should not of done what he did.But to be dismissed, well Mike printed the rules in that regard. Was it in the spirit of the game, defently not.Maby penalise the batting team runs.
Was told Big Bash umpires are Pennant Grade Umpires. Is that a factor.

he changed his line to get in front of the stumps so was given out.
was obvious on replay, not the umps job to look at the spirit of the game

Pretty sure he did, Ark.
I was at the WACA that day with some drunken Uni mates and it was a great finish after Sarfraz had taken 7-1 to end the Aussies innings at the MCG a week or two earlier (Australia collapsed from 3-305 to 310 all out, from memory).

Mankad - yes but only once a warning has been given.

Ross had to be given out under the current rules regardless of intent.

Heat captain out of line having a crack at Bailey. Looking forward to the rematch.

Does this mean that every throw at the stumps where a batsman is hit by the thrower the batsman should be out?
