All the tough talk of the Aussies prior to the series has evaporated on day 1. Credit to England, they have bowled well, but this has been an appalling performance by Australia on a good pitch

Yep pretty much says it all. Just woeful shot selection in each dismissal. All caught - that tells you everything - against a decent but hardly threatening attack.

And yes the standard of first class cricket in this country is probably at one of its lowest ebbs and that's where this rot starts with batsmen unable to play the moving ball because they've grown lazy playing on flat tracks is at the root of Australia's batting problems at the moment.

not a Mitch or Haddin fan......but thank fudge for their fight today......protecting 300 is far better than 120 - 140......not saying the poms won't make 500 but hey at least Harris, Siddle et al have a bit more to work with than what a lot folk thought at tea!!

All Lehmann needs to do now is sub Lyon for Agar and hopefully Australia can push their total up towards the 400 mark! Fingers crossed the Aussies can continue some fight tomorrow....at least they didn't roll over after another collapse from Australia's 'premier' batsmen.....hopefully Broad has taken all his wickets in this series today.....

know him personally then do ya?. He boarded with my mates family whilst playing in Vic, apparently a rippa bloke, and when last in Melb, went back to the club and coached the kids there, and volunteered and did the scoring for the club.

Day one and you have given up already? only one bowler doing the damage, and a couple
of bad shots in it, at least wait until the poms have battered before giving up on
them, wish warner would just bat like he has in the past few weeks and not get
bogged down, so at least wait until the fat lady sings.
