The bedwetters decision last night might have given cricket a reprieve but it’s probably put the kybosh on a full WAFL season. By delaying the inevitable we’ll see an omicron surge hit right in time for the WAFL season start. There is no way on god’s green earth WAFL clubs will cope with the impact of that on players, officials and volunteers.

Actually a Feb opening would of seen exactly that a peak around April It will be months before the borders open now, around April if that so the WAFL season will start as normal, most likely proceed as normal.

Young people which would be WAFL players will get it first as they go out more so whenever you open your borders there goes your WAFL season for a while.
Feb would have been better for the WAFL.
Over half the afl players in vic, nsw and qld have had Covid and clubs are happy as they are now starting to return to training

Season starts that weekend, there’s no set date to reopen, at least we know the season will start unhindered, I don’t think we will open fully until July ,
Anyway remember people can come and go a lot easier under the new arrangements there more exceptions.

Don't wish to wander off topic.
Apparently the big Australian Grand Prix racing is going ahead. I believe being held in April.
Apparently they won't be having a Clayton's ban on participants unlike other events.
It's being reported everyone connected to the event will need to fully vaccinated with no excemptions and no exceptions granted to anybody. And a full crowd is expected to attend.

And the general feeling is wearing the face masks is staying with us for quite a while. Lets assume a reopening date in july, the mask wearing will extend beyond then. People on the outer side of a ground (whom are social distancing) should not have to be masking up, unless distancing is not possible.  However in the grand stand, queuing at the food cart, being inside etc will require the mask wearing.

I'm betting we will be wearing masks until the end of winter ...

With the new laws coming in if you are unvaxxed you cannot be in a licensed area. There is no mandate on WAFL (correct me if I'm wrong) or PFL teams to have all players vaxxed but the licensing is a whole different kettle of fish as any unvaxxed player may not enter a licensed premise so local footy that is normally the bar and a small surrounding area. If your change rooms are included then an unvaxxed person may not enter the change rooms.

WAFL, that is a hell of a lot bigger area and could see some people not allowed in the gates.

interesting take on the new laws that some may not have thought about.

No problem with the unvaxxed having severe restrictions on where they go and what they can do in public unless they have a genuine exemption. They have the choice.
