Got to the ground today but disappointed to not see Yarran playing. Anyone know why they won't pick him? Saw him again yesterday at the Quinns TAB and he was a bit upset to not be playing. Wouldn't tell me why, just said politics.

Anyway looking forward to a big win today. Go Swannies!

Davo in my opinion there is a simple reason for Yarran's non-selection(and I would love to see him play league for us) he is nowhere fit enough.

We are a mile off Subi, SF & FART playing standards at the moment.
I dare say if we were playing any of those 3 sides over the last 2 weeks we would have copped a 100 point flogging to be honest.
Left up to the same old players to get us over the line again and far too many players had zero impact on the game today and that is without even sighting the stats as yet, we are carrying a few too many passengers.
On the other hand Hackett & McKenzie have stepped up to the mark when given the opportunity with the likes of Blight, Coniglio, Rogers, Ames, Ellis, Riggio, Daniels, Yarran, Clutterbuck among a host of injured senior players.
Anyone know how far away Blight is from returning as he is one we desperately miss?

A couple of observations now that I have reflected a bit on the game.

1. As BH said our experienced guys came to the fore when we needed them. Ellard, Ugle, Crowley Banfield and Faulkner were the drivers.

2. I liked the contribution of Hackett. Mckenzie and McGuire showed a bit too but they turned the ball over too much for my liking and put their teammates under pressure. Worth persisting with though.

3. I felt sorry for Cary and Noble. They had no hope given that our midfielders were hap hazard in their delivery for most of the day. Their spare had a picnic. Noble has got a lot of ability I reckon. Having said that our forwards apart from Banners didn't work hard enough to hold the ball inside our forward 50. For most of the day the Sharks moved the ball out of their defence with ridiculous ease.

4. Even though Taryce Stewart didnt get a lot of the ball ( mainly because of number 3 above) he did show a lot of poise and class beyond his years. Great goal to finally get us home.

5. Hope a cameraman captured Nottes mark in the last quarter , it was a ripper.

6. Swans are playing bottom 3 footy at the moment and I fear a complete reaming next week against South unless they can pull something out of the hat quickly

It's been a while between posts but I feel compelled. You lads need to lighten up. Coming off a wooden spoon, after 14 matches the ducks are one win off 2nd, 3 wins clear in the top 5 and have ground out a couple of wins with some significant outs. Yes it's been close against the bottom two but all you need is wins.. once in the finals the only side I see it being massively hard to beat is subi. Not bad with a pretty young side and injuries sustained to Ellis, Ames and co.

Glass half full? Or is this site all about the negatives. With some luck a GF appearance is possible.

We are playing far below our best footy Tigerpoint...as Harding called it himself at Claremont Oval a few weeks back "possibly the most embarrassing performance in the history of our footy club, maybe in the history of the WAFL", that comes from the coach himself ...we are demanding consistency of effort at the moment across the group, with that us supporters/members will back our blokes in. Our ball use was shocking yesterday on a perfect day for footy

DW, Mikeh, BH et al a very simple question: if you had to choose which season you would prefer, would you choose 2016 or 2017? Personally, I would choose 2017 and sure the game at Claremont was disappointing in the extreme. However, in many games last year the first thing you did as a supporter was check the budget to see what our lowest score was against the team we were playing that day.

We are currently and yes I use the word currently advisedly, ensconced in the top 5. Surely, the development of some of our younger players is a positive?

I refrained from writing a match wrap in identifying the need to keep it positive. Great to see young Hackett finding the ball yesterday. That was the highlight for yesterday's match for me . Is usually a bit more clean with his disposal but that will come as his confidence grows at the level. To be honest I was surprised he didn't get drafted last year in the least as a rookie

TP & 42 I thought I did highlight a fairly good reason above why our form has dropped off of late, I dont think many teams in the WAFL can afford to have 10 of their best 25 players sitting on the sidelines as we do currently.

Fair call guys, we are in an excellent position on the ladder and certainly no comparison with 2016 of course. I suppose my only issue is that the guys have set a bit of a benchmark for themselves in two games this year. Earlier in the season they beat the Doggies at Bassendean and a few weeks ago they took care of East Perth. In both games they played 4 quarters of competitive intense football in which they looked a finals quality team. My question is why can they not pull that brand of football out more often, instead of the sort of stuff they played yesterday where they dominated certain parts of the game and fell asleep in other periods ( i.e.2nd quarter). I know that a part of it is the injuries but it must be a mindset thing to some extent as well. At our best I think we are capable of challenging anyone in the competition, apart from Subiaco maybe.

Was interesting yesterday to see other blokes running around in jumper numbers #2, #3 and #10. Not sure if we can read anything in to it but understand Coniglio's season is done so Hackett in #3 was understandable. Hope this is not an indicador for Blight and Xavier's seasons being over although highly unlikely Ellis will have a late run at it with his current fitness levels but we can live in hope I guess.
