Charlie Cameron fast tracking to be the best of the lot of them but at this stage that's where I've got them for efforts up til now of the AFL fraternity...Ames is a dead set legend of SD and by far the best performer at WAFL level during this period along with Beros

Me too mikeh if since 1980 with Baker the player I wanted to be because I didn't think it was possible for a mortal like me to be as good as Phil. What a player he was...pity the injuries mounted up and robbed us from watching him sparkle Australia wide

BH did Retzy end up at Brisbane Loins. From memory he played quiet well for them.In 1990 I was in Melbourne the year both Swans and Collingwood won the GF's.The two Bunbury boys Grasso and Bazzo where strongly linked to Collingwood.Dont think either ever headed east.

As for the best since 80.
5.Simon Beasley.
4.Murry+Alex Rance
3.Long live Andrew Krakour.
2.Leon Baker
1.League debut aged 16 55 metres both feet would of been an out and out superstar in today's game
Philip Narkle.
APolagies to Mike Richardson,Brad Shine,Peter Satory.Stan Nawotny.Keith Narkle.

Not sure we can claim Kraks as a local zone player

Yeah mate Retzy was on Collingwood's list but stayed at Swans but he did play at Brisbane, WCE & Fremantle eventually.
He was a classy player and a beautiful kick of the footy.

Phil Narkle for sure
Baker a genius but was a Vic originally.
Beasley a star and backed it up in Victoria
Alex Rance may go down as one of the best backs in the last decade so he needs to be in the conversation.

DW - Mike Smith was a gun for sure, held his own against Rioli at his best, think there may have been some state games in 80 where they both played in the same team, did his knee early 81.

Mike Smith was always my favourite SD player. From memory he came back from injury and kicked a really freakish soccerred goal during a final.
