Now that the new year has arrived, I thought I might start a thread for supporters to share any pre season thoughts or news over the next few months leading into the season.

Given Swans productive recruitment over summer and the continuing development of the younger players I was wondering what people thought would be a pass mark for the team in 2017 and thereby giving Harding a further contract renewal. My view is that 8 wins would be a realistic target and as well as this, there would have to be definite promise of further improvement and a potential finals appearance in 2018. I am not writing off the team being in the finals mix for 2017 but I think we have to be realistic given the awful season we had last year. As supporters we have a right to expect significant improvement this year and I am certainly looking forward to this season to see how the ex AFL players will gel with the 2016 players.

I think the issue will be how soon the players gel and that is down to their ego's and the coaches not just harding but his team

Considering most of them are homegrown returning players ego won't come into it, they love the club that developed them, ego might be an issue at the Roygles understandably but not at Swans

Had the pleasure of talking footy with the skipper a fortnight ago...he was reserved in making any bold predictions but was obvious he had a glint in his eye...we will bounce back in 2017...looking forward to seeing how Faulk's kicking has improved with yet another pre season under his belt

Pretty sure Newman was home grown ....didnt dim his ego from memory when he came home last year....

SD midfield will be the best outside the AFL DW ;) ....definitely give your forwards plenty of footy....though kicking goals was SD problem last year....is Gault any good as a goalkicker....kicked fark all it seems playing for Collingwood AFL and VFL sides....touch wood Ricky finds some form....height wise those twin towers look good on paper that is for sure.

DW - Faulkner was hitting targets and kicked a few goals last year, imagine how much he will improve with you looking over his shoulder !

SD whatever happens in the league team @ EP is neither here nor there, I was making an observation that perhaps it maybe for them given they are coming off good salaries and facilities, it can be a problem, have a good day and enjoy your club!

Congratulations to Kara Juddy who has been named the Captain of the Dockers in the inaugural Women's AFL competition. The first preseason game is in Darwin this weekend I believe.
