how do you know, do you know him personally ?

are these the same AFL clubs that have blokes on their list like Daniel Kerr ?
they are the last people that should be making judgments on people's attitude..

and since you dont know Dayle or have had nothing to do with him i'm not sure how you could make an assesment on his attitude or character based on what you read in the media..

Not hear say mate...my understanding is that he was kicked out of the footy academy, disciplined by Swans during the year and dropped from the 1sts for indiscretions, and then posted pictures of himself smoking and drinking the night before this years WAFL prelim.

I'm not sure how much more proof you want...for Smart to go out and blame everyone for the situation except Garlett himself is a joke.

He either wants to be an AFL footballer with everything that goes with it including self discipline or he doesn't. He might make all the noises but obviously 18 AFL clubs are of the opinion he doesn't want it enough.

kicked out of the AIS - yes
dropped for missing rehab - yes
drinking and smoking before a final - beat up by the West, the picture was taken earlier in the year

the point Samrt was makign was for some reason Garlett is being treated differently to other kids who want to get drafted or people on AFL lists - Dustin Martin missed training for Richmond, Dane Swan turned up blind at training, one club had 7 blokes on 2 drug charges yet did any of those blokes get sacked ?

check out the photo of Eddie Betts on the internet drinking and smoking, did he get sacked..?

the only reason the West did the good new stories on Garlett was after Swans contacting them and saying they were publishing incorrect information and any chance of a good news story on Garlett, their pathetic journos helped create media hype about the kid..

so Anchorman - what you are saying what garlett should have done was be a nice kid and got on an AFL list then he can be as big a d-ckhead as he wants ?
so its ok in football to take drugs, break the law, drink and smoke if you are on an AFL list but if not on a list you cant go and have a drink till 4am ?

My comment was in reference to the alleged bender he went on when he got back last Friday, media beat up again? Olsen is correct too, mass hypocracy from AFL clubs

Anchorman - i have a big problem with AFL clubs and have done for a long time in the way they judge players for indiscretions..

they have double standards and know what a lot of their players get up to but punishment usually dependant on the ability of the player...

now they are judging players before they even get there - pretty interesting to be expectign 18 year old kids to be perfect when they have blokes on their own list who are much older engaging in illegal activities..

sounds hypocritical to me..

and maybe, just maybe your club Freo could get Michael Johnson to mentor him this year - he's a cleanskin apparently..

did you feel the same way about Michael Johnson at Freo ?
has 2 drug strikes and he was older than 18..
did you call for his sacking as obviously his attitude to your beloved club wasnt that great..

maybe at the draft camp next year they should get Cousins, Kerr, Johnson, Martin and Swan to speak to the kids and say whatever you do kids dont go out till 4am before the draft - wait till you get drafted and then you can be as big a turkey as you want and engage in as much illegal activity as you want but if you are a good player you wont get sacked..
