Wouldn't have thought so.

He went to North Melbourne, not sure where is since he got delisted. I expect somewhere in Victoria.

DF he is now at Richmond and has in fact been named to make his debut against the Eagles tonight

I stand corrected Mikeh.

Good on him hope he gets a game.

I hope he doesn't come back to Swans was always pretty good at WAFL level if my memory serves me correctly and probably a lot better now..

There are 16 Swans origin players playing in the AFL at the moment so I have placed them in a team and added 6 current members of the Swans side to complete the 22. Most of the AFL guys are small forwards or mids so most of the additions were key position players. I also didn't consider guys like Lachie Neale who is an AFL player but not a Swans origin, but I did include Tim Geappan who is a current Swans player but not from the district

Here it is

BACKS Yarran Ames Graham Jetta

HALF BACKS Pearce Simpson Rance

CENTRES Lewis Jetta Coniglio Jeff Garlett

HALF FORWARDS Banfield Notte Ellard

FORWARDS Walters Geappan Dayle Garlett

RUCKS Natanui Embley Armfield

INTERCHANGE Gault, Newman, Neville Jetta, Bennell

What do you think, not a bad team?

It would be interesting to see other WAFL clubs line ups, I'm sure there would be some pretty strong teams

I'm glad it got you thinking, as it had me thinking too. What a strong Swans team on paper, and an absolute shame at the same time that we will never get to see this combination actually play.

Possibly could have been one of the best Swans sides ever and bettered West Coast or Fremantles current playing lists in my opinion.

Mike.

Great line up, put it up against the sides of the early 80's, you will know more than I would!

I reckon Notte would kick 10 on Johnson, Geappen would be lucky to even see the footy against Bruce Doull MK2, Simpson(the best CHB outside the AFL) would keep Buddy more than honest, especially the form Buddy has been in of late, Ames would keep Mayne goaless...probably pointless too....O'Meara v Coniglio would be worth the entrance fee tho.....

good to see the former Great Northern boy in O'Meara doing well in his first season of AFL footy.....can think of a few decent GNFL players in the AFL of late....out of interest how far out of Gero is Dongara?...interesting to see O'Meara play he is junior footy in the GNFL, instead of the Perth stronghold of the North Midlands league.....any reason why?

Interesting discussion point comparing it to the 80s teams. I think the 80s centreline of Keith and Phil Narkle and Leon Baker would have the edge. Impossible to compare Nic Naitanui and Ron Boucher. With respect to Brad Shine which rules are we playing under? If current rules applied he would give away about 20 free kicks each game for getting to the base of the packs.

30+....don't know what you mean mate?.....I didn't mention the umps once in that post of mine!......I guess you are as bemused as me as to why Jaeger decided to fine tune his footy skills in the GNFL instead of the North Midlands footy league.....

I hear the kid used to listen intently to the EF league boys when they conducted clinics up in Gero when he was a youngster......
