Mikeh pretty sure Bird and Siddle bowled NSW out for 32 mate...not the likes of Rainbird, Freeman, Webster et al....but agree well done to the Tassie attack for a job well done v WA in that last match.....just frustrating considering the likes of Bancroft, Marsh X 2, Green and Agar all with Aust experience couldn't apply themselves better....but hey all those guys bar Green have proven to be reliably unreliable at the best of times....all more frustrating considering 3 of Tassie's better bowlers in Siddle, Ellis and Meredith were left at home.....

Where to from here for Voges et al? Does he do a Coulter Nile to Behrendorf and say if you can't play red ball, then see ya later.....not sure what is sitting in the WA first grade ranks....Cooper Connolly is obviously too young, but definitely one for the future.....no doubt a few other good youngsters floating around....Wonder if Voges has the balls to make a few hard decisions and chop a few players who have been around for a while either under achieving or possessing bodies good enough for white ball cricket, but too fragile for the red ball game...

Fair enough Freezin , I forgot about Siddle. Lucky he didn't play or WA might have capitulated by the end of day 3!
The first innings batting performance was particularly insipid as on day 4 they had no real choice but to throw the bat and they perished accordingly.
Not a lot of other options for Voges at the moment. Must admit I was amazed that they didn't play Phillipe in a game that they were obviously having to score runs quickly to win. Wouldn't blame Phillipe if he went to another state TBH.
There is a chance that Shaun Marsh may pull the pin after the season so this will open up another opportunity for Carder perhaps who has been OK in the games he has played. I think the fast bowling attack of Gannon, Kelly, Paris with back ups Morris and Guthrie was pretty good. The perennial problem is a decent spinner. Agar doesn't take enough wickets at first class level and O'Connor is a 20/20 bowler.

Heard a whisper (it may have been on 91.3FM), Mike, that Jake Carder might be heading to South Australia.
Personally, I'd prefer WA to keep the swashbuckling Josh Philippe ahead of Carder, as promising a batsman as he is.

I see Doctor Jeckyll surfaced and WA got to a final - it is a strange lot at the WACA that's for sure

Good on you Skull O'Keefe, you are on the money with your call on Jake Carder. Been saying for a few seasons now get this kid in but nup, Whiteman retrained/retained as an opener and, naturally, off young Jake flies to SA. They are getting a decent squad together in SA finally and with a smart coach will improve so good move for young Carder, I wish him well.

So now no Carder but Jayden Goodwin gets a go. Good luck to the young fella. Hope he succeeds, but is he an opener?

I couldnt believe we moved on young Jake Carder Dazz whilst continuing with makeshift opener Sam Whiteman.
Maybe they thought with young opener Jayden Goodwin (and Sam Fanning) coming through his chances were going to be limited anyway but they continue on with Whiteman who is out with concussion for this current match vs QLD.
In which we rolled QLD for 129 on a green top but we were 1 for none after only 1 ball with Bancroft out first ball of our innings.

WA 2 for 108 at stumps with Shaun Marsh also retired hurt. Young Goodwin only made 10 but Cam Green 48 no.

Yep, Fanning is another good one so maybe he did see more opportunity in SA. Although it looks like he's run into Henry Hunt there who is having a great start to the season and has to be a smokey for consideration for a Test opening spot.
