Was confirmed last week that the board rejected an appeal by a team of ex east freo coaches and players to step in for the remainder of the season ( 7 weeks ago ) and try to restore some culture and pride in to the team for the remainder of the season. Ex pres Con tripi, Steve Waller, and a team of ex coaches led by LesterSmith, Henson , quill, Lockyer , Gaspar. This was before Wiley resigned, and then when he did, they still rejected the offer and kept him on, which makes you wonder what Wiley has on the board or what the board is fearful of. Sponsorship loss most likely. As for the players you mention, I would disagree. Henson is very skilful , and under Malaxos, was a top player. Perham is being used in the ruck, when at best, he is a half forward. Loesche is the tallest at the club, but they play him full forward. Yes he kicked 2 or 3 a game, but we still get belted. LesterSmith has been out for 18 months, so hard to judge, but think with right coach can offer something. Still one of the best kicks at the club. Jupp was given a leadership role too early, and needs to stop kicking the ball and turning it over. Handball only. I think the problem lies in the top line players. ALL the BIG recruits haven’t fired, plus , eardley, Hampson etc play for themselves . NO Leadership. Yu are right. The CULTURE is no good, so the playing group is no good., on and off the field. They paid over the odds for the best recruits, who only play for the money. I would move them on, or halve there match payments for 12 months and see if they really want to play at the sharks,,,,,,,,!!!! Everyone outside the footy club has had enough. Those inside need to knock down the wall, take off there rose coloured glasses, glue some ears on the side of their heads, and LISTEN

Thats unbelievable Grey Fin. That it got to the stage where that consortium thought that was the way to go. You'd think Lockyer has applied.

Nothing will change at the joint until the board gets some decent operators. Good luck making change there

Yep gutting to hear....sounds like Wiley is made out to be the good honourable guy here by "stepping down" but staying on to "help"out....when help was already there......no doubt other deciding factors here as GF says....geez perfect opportunity to atleast claw something back on this disastrous season....now it will sink deeper with Subi and SF to play

As for EF recruits......Boekhorst injured game 1....Kommer showed quality, but injury prone....as he was at Essendon.....Loersch injured early but kicking goals.....Griff probably one season too long but tries.....Snadden and Jansen young failed AFL careers....will both be better for the experience I guess....both only young with under 50 games of league footy under their belts.....Fletcher from the ammos....doing what he did at SD showing snippets but not enough....so not too sure what you mean by the recruits being money orientated Grey Fin....

Yeah hear what you say about Henson et al....need their experience and depth I guess....

For next year perhaps Paparone and Harry Marsh may be possibilities for delisting.....both could be handy additions if available......just need some respite on the injury front.....but sounds like a lot of changes need to be made......

Wiley is another Dunbar selection.....

Freez. The top 6 recruits were paid shitloads and sign on fees to come to effc. Club put there hand out to raise $40k to pay them. And what did they get . Just name players. How about recruiting players with integrity and willingness to learn the east freo way. Boekhurst the only real good one I think. Hopefully he can stay on. You seem happy loesche kicking goals.. he is a bloody ruckman and was recruited ac a ruckman. Wouldn’t matter if he kicked 6 goals every week , we are still getting smashed ,,, and the game is won in the middle of the ground. East Perth had 4 mids yesterday rack up over 30possessions each. Who the hell was on them.

Thought Loersch was a forward/ruckman....not an out n out ruckman...played in the NEAFL as a forward..and colts as a FF.......isn't Griffen the out n out ruck with Cronan and now Watson as support?.....none of those guys can kick bags of goals ...they do most of their work around the ground....though have heard Loersch is a tad defensively lazy......pity Bristow got injured and then moved on......but yep the mids need to be more accountable totally agree....Thought Kommer had been doing some good inside work tho when fit.....do miss McGough and ROB hardness at the coal face.....pity the likes of Burton C Holmes and Harding haven't come on.....they showed promise late last year.....pity Tom Joyce has been injured.....sounds like Milan Murdock showed something though.

You might be missing the point . Loesch kicks 50 goals for the year, we lose 16 games by average 50 points, our ruck is crap, and we use Perham as a 2nd ruck. We have still lost 16 games. Griffin is a 1970 lumbering ruckman who couldn’t cover the ground with the aid of a motorbike. Perham is a forward . Loesch should be rucking to give us some clearances . All our forward thrusts are starting from defence. Schofield gets 35 possessions each week from half back, and we still get belted each week. Alarm bells must have been going off in the coaches box 18 months ago. Something is wrotten.....like a dead shark ....

and Loersch isn't a lumbering type as well?....plus he came off a limited preseason due to a foot injury......understand Griff is probably past his best....but Perham is neither a ruckman or a key forward....3rd tall forward at a push.....agree the coaching team are falling short by playing Perham as a ruck....surprised Cronan got dropped, but I guess at 197cm they thought Watson could help Griff in the ruck.....can see Cronan and Watson teaming up together next year perhaps....even Luke Jackson might get a run.....yep understand the mids aren't doing enough clearance work.....but without Loersch up front EF would be kicking 2 -3 goals a match....because he seems the only fella capable of kicking a goal.....no small forwards....we need a Strnadica up front as well....or perhaps Paparone at CHF....because Howson seems to be injured all the time....surprised O'Reilly hasn't played at CHF.....too late now anyway

Some interesting comments being made on here especially about about the mids and the numbers racked up by players behind the ball. I remember posting comments the same over the past few seasons and going into bat for the forwards over these seasons when being nailed for not kicking a score. Some of he names thrown around playing ammos unfortunately became chopping blocks for the losses who were forwards although not putting Anthony into that bracket. A couple have suffered long term injuries since and probably were not even re contracted by the club during the injury period. Having being involved with amateur footy I could throw out a long list of talented players who have been at the club still playing ammos. The recent game plan of possession style football has not worked and yes we have been smashed at CBDs and at stoppages in recent seasons.

Freez. Imagine if Loesche played ruck, we could set up to win the knocks, win enough clearances from the middle to drive us forward , and set up some goals. Not allowing opposition time to get numbers back. Forwards one v one. What a dream. A mobile loesche pushing forward on his opposition ruckman occasionally. As it is, our forward thrusts are mainly from backline, so opposition have time to set up behind the ball. Wouldn’t matter if loesche kicked 100 goals if we are still losing matches by 50 points. We just aren’t getting enough inside 50. Fix that first, then worry about the score. Remember, you can’t put brains on statues, but you can keep things basic and understandable. People and players don’t want to come to the club . WHY. We all know the answer
