From having attended the game, I thought there were considerably more than 400 people in attendance.
On a cold night, there seemed to be plenty of people hidden in the bar or sitting in the seats directly in front of the bar.
Plus, there were a couple of functions (explaining a couple of EPFC directors in their suits) either side of the bar.
The East Perth huddle was pretty deep with spectators at the quarter and three-quarter-time breaks - and in the changerooms immediately after the game (rousing renditions of "East Perth forever boys, East Perth are we …"
It would be interesting to know where JT gets his estimate from - his own eyes or from talking to the gate attendants?

Sorry why did Ross Glendinning care about the temperature of your hot chocolate?

Ross was complaining how cold it was at the footy. For those bold enough to venture out with heavy jackets, beanies, scarves and long sox it was worth the effort.

Looked like 1500-1800 to me. What struck me is when the Eagles kicked a goal it was accompanied by complete silence. Bizarre no support at all and the players must find it strange.

I saw some eagles supporters in their gear but I suspect most stayed home and watched it on facebook. The grandstand was really rocking and hopefully with a better timeslot and good weather we will have a bigger crowd next time.

Very clever, StT, I had a good chuckle at the subtlety.

Not whinging, but it still takes you back to comments made that an Eagles Reserves team would attract blah blah blah extra spectators to the WAFL. Never believed it then and the proof is now in the pudding.

Surely the home team provides crowd figures on the basis of gate takings? If there were the extra 1000 or so there that EP supporters say there was perhaps they all found a hole in the fence and got in that way. The EP v. WCE game is a bit like a derby now, perhaps that explains the special fixture. Must have been a few EP supporters who weren’t too sure who to support on the night. Still, EP are shaping as a team to watch for the rest of the season. Given WCE and Peel seem inconsistent there might well be a spot in the finals for them. Who knows they may get a few WCE boys back for the finals. Monty? Get that done. Could be worth a few dollars.

.The noise coming from the east perth supporters are like the old days.I follow the eagles in the afl but wafl is my first love. The one team I wanted to beat is west coast.Hated the bleating from west coast supporters about how bad wellingham, gorter, mcginnitty and other east perth players were when we were aligned. When you are in a alignment you realise how many ordinary players that the eagles have on their list.Yesterday was evidence that they can be beaten because they have very few afl quality players at wafl level and their midfield is a achiles heel which if we can exploit then better wafl teams should beat them.
