Yeah was being sarky BC, Bronte's "frustrations" are about hollow as you can get.

The full extent of the alignment woes were exposed Rd 1 last year when Simpson on a whim told Webster to switch Barrass from back to forward. The game was gone but the coach of one side told the coach of another side what to do - on match day!!! Any argument that EP still existed as a footy club/team in any way after that had to be bs.

And I don't mean Simpson was coaching the other side but rather another side ie he was NOT the coach of EP (at least not in the Budget anyway).

At the end of the day for quite plausible reasons (for EP) the alignment will continue to, as I understand it and could work out, until 2020. Apparently the legal advice is that we have to give at least 2 years notice before the 28th February of any year to end the alignment oops it is now a partnership.

Also no matter what we do the whip hand is held by the WAFC and WAFL. The WAFC in the agreement and the WAFL in any matters of arbitration, 5 matters and 5 losses to EP and 5 wins to the Weagles.

The added issue is the town of Cambridge, PCC et al regarding where we will be in 2023 and that has a bearing on the partnership regarding our rooms.

There was a vote of the assembled members, abt 60/40 to continue til the 2020 season given all of the information provided and yes there was a fair bit of selling going on but at the end of the day I suspect given the fait accompli of it all why rock the boat.

The greatest point of contention was about having to play Eagles player that were clearly not going to make it in the grown up level, the Bennett Coppings and Lambs of the list.

Am I sad, yes and I am I disheartened, yes but the biggest saddening thing is about the health or not of some of the other clubs and yes it could be as a result of the WAFC/WAFL/EPFC arrangement and yes some spin (but given the nature of social media folk have to careful abt what said) but there is also a little bit bad management going on around the traps. When you have a club having to draw on this years allocation to pay last years payments there is cause for concern and the blame is not just abt EP!

Grump you mention that it was a 60/40 vote by the assembled members, i guess that should be seen as a massive concession my the board to actually ask the members what they think. Shame they didn't use the opportunity to make a strong protest against the alignment/partnership, but then i wasn't there to hear all that was put to the members. Any idea of how many members turned up and what % of the total membership that would be?

The elephant in the room is that they could not get answers from the wafc as to how it would affect east perth financially going back to a stand alone team.Nobody knows what the the next few years are going to hold for all clubs with the new stadium deal.

Hello chaddy22. Just wanted to say a big thank you for your forthright comments to Bronte and the board regarding team selection. Your comments were pointed and spot on. While G7 clubs think we have it made with the players at our disposal the fact is many are not even up to WAFL standard yet we have to put up with them getting selected week after week ahead of EP players who would be no worse and very likely considerably better. It's a core gripe from our supporters and I reckon most of those that turned up to the AGM agreed with you, even Bronte said he shared the frustration.

Was Bronte listening.?.All we needed was the best combined 22 players in the best positions and we would have performed better.Lamb should have been dropped hallway thru the season and why Scott jones didnt't remain our number one ruckman instead of old man Giles is another one.It will be interesting to see if they have learned anything from last years fiasco. If they load up the team with newbies from the under 19"s from game one and I suspect they will and we will be zip and five again..Make the young eagles earn their way into the side otherwise they are not learning anything at all.

The problem is we have a CEO who wants to sit on his arse and have the backup support of the WCE and a President who feeds the club financially. All the other clubs work hard and exist so why can't we? Bronte now is out of the business loop so expect funds to dry up and the CEO to start crying poor even harder. We are sinking further into the clutches of the WCE

East Perth are not coming back & it appears never will either - the chief executive says both parties are happy with the arrangement but only had concerns about the WAFC spirit of agreement
The alignment was unhappy it wasn't allowed to recruit more players according to this fellow

There's nothing new in this.
thewest.com.au/sport/west-coast-eagles/e...-years-ng-b88760267z
the only difference is that the deadline (that was never going to be met) to stop the alignment in 2 years was not met.
East Perth are able to give notice next year to end the alignment 2 years after that. Turner is only saying the East Perth haven't decided what they'll do next year.
