An AFL reserves competition will never happen

The AFL abandoned that years ago.

chaddy22 for me just knowing what lies ahead has sapped the enthusiasm i once had. its as simple as that. i know other clubs wanted the alignment but that still doesnt make it right or give it justification. but it gives the club about $2.5 million over the next five years and secures their future i know. maybe someone else can have a go the next five years and i may find that passion again.
my thoughts are more for the rest of the competition in terms of losing faith and credibility. i just see this model as flawed and the proof will be in the pudding. hope im wrong but we all know it looks doubtful. no equality now in regards to money and points cap. that is not a fair comp is that fair to say?

JARDINE i know what you are trying to say but anyone who thinks that the current competition is equal is only kidding themselves When was the last time Perth made the finals let alone win a premiership.Is it fair that Seaby went to the tigers rather than go back to the Falcons.Does anybody think the suburban zones create a equal scenario.I am sure West Perth would love to have claremont's private schools and give them the northern corridor full of soccer and rugby players.I am sure subi would love to trade their country zone of kalgoorlie for the sharks area of geraldton.I am not disputing that they do a good job of developing youngsters but there seems to be too much inequality now.l would love to get rid of the alignment but i fear it would mean the same few teams would be playing in the finals and winning them and those with dud areas will just be battling to make the four.Just remember people wanted the points system to make the competition equal.Definitely stopped Subi's premeirship run.but now teams who don't have good juniors can't compete.

The VFL has 14 teams made up of three afl teams Collingwood,Essendon,Geelong who have their own club run teams.
six of the other teams are aligned with vfl clubs.The only afl team that doesn't have a aligned team is the kangaroos who split their players between
North Ballarat and Werribee.their are three afl free teams Bendigo,Port Melbourne,and Frankston.

I know some of the afl clubs would love to split from their aligned clubs VFL clubs.I suspect it will be just a matter of time before all clubs will see this as an advantage and we will have a defacto afl reserves.If i'm right in my assumptions then all non victorain clubs will want to join especially if extra funding in a new tv deal with of a afl reserves competition.i
I might be dreaming but i wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

look chaddy i think trying to clutch at certain things to justify this move just makes it or US look more the selfish types. But i am not trying to say you are wrong. Your opinion and loyal backing of eastperth is your right.

The points cap was working and it did not have time to show its effects. clubs like perth could be deemed less fortunate given their long drought. But the points cap will never be able to show us if clubs like perth could have benefited from it. Some clubs simply fail on their own right too lets not forget. I know richmond have had the same advantages as hawthorn collingwood and essendon over the years, but still managed to do nothing for 30 years.
