Sorry to hear you may not be at the club next year Grump. Thanks Kev that's the info I was looking for. I have never met Pat but I know he is a real die hard Royal.

Sometimes the best Colts coach is somebody who the young fellas listen to and respect. Results shouldn't come into the equation but how many of these blokes are ready to either step up to the AFL or be 5-10 year players for your club is the result you want.

Especiallly at EP where you cant recruit from outside.

Pat is an excellent choice, though (imo) he should have been in the role after Braun (no offense to Clint), those 3 extra years under TM and Dawson have seen him continue to evolve his coaching.

The best thing about Pat is commitment. Even though he has been assisting at League and Ressies for the past 4 years, he has continued to spend a great deal of time with the Colts since he was assistant to Prior during their premiership.

He has a great rapport with anyone he coaches (League - Colts) and is respected by all those he has coached with at EPFC (including me, but I am biased ;) ). Players must want to play for their coach and with Pat, this will definitely be the case.

More importantly Colts are about the future of the club, not so much about winning games. He is an excellent development coach and his very high attention to detail I rarely see in a coach. With that great culture and ethos, winning games will be a very happy side effect I am sure.

I am very excited for Pat and hope you can all get behind him.

Well, training happened, 80 plus boys with abt another 20 or so still to come down, cricket etc.

2k run with some good times and not so but the boys will get better as they learn and put the effort in.

Seems to a bit happening at our end of Leederville with demolition of some stuff and aparently building of other stuff to happen, gym, rehab facilities and property room changes.

Oh well here we go again and it was good to be back.

Not familiar with Pat Litherland, but have known the name around the club for quite a while. Hopefully he will get the support he needs from the club, as it appears they are having little regard for the future at other levels!!

IMO, the colts coaching role over the next 3 years (I assume that is his contract?) is going to be a massive job. I say this because it is where the stocks are going to come from, after the debacle of the WCE alignment. Being able to retain junior players in this time is going to be very difficult as many will not see a clear ability to progress, as the reserves side continues to backlog.

I would not envy that role at all. 100 boys though is not a bad start. To some level I do agree with some comments on here about prior colts coaches. I think Braun was a massive mistake and Clint was probably the wrong choice also. Michael Prior was the last person in that role that I believe built the best foundation for the club.

Either way, the development of juniors through the development squads and especially the colts is going to need an amazing team effort. I hope these people are up to it. As there will be many obstacles inside and outside the club to challenge them.

Does anyone know if the Litherlands at EP are related to Angus Litherland at Hawthorn?

What about Paul Litherland? Did not see him at all last year. Do we know what happened to him? His Royals photgraphy facebook page has been closed. Missing his work.
