Hi Dogman

Yep up to last week. Kenwick.

I made a phone call just now they have scrambled 2 more, Gosnells and Queens Park. So that's 3 teams from 12 junior clubs.

We only have 4 year 10 teams. That's Under 15s. Bloody hell that is bad.

Hopefully with the new cross district model Swans and East Perth have a few more so a comp can be organised.

Either, both, 100 other reasons, who really knows. Everyone has a theory but I know I don't know, most clubs are way down. The club I am at is down 70 kids.

Very interesting TF (unfortunately not good) about the amount of 17's teams around the traps nowadays especially having come through the Perth district 20 years ago when we had about a dozen 17's sides playing in the district (Armadale, Roleystone, Kelmscott, Gosnells, Maddington, Kenwick, Thornlie, Forrestfield, Belmont, Vic Park/South Perth etc).
We constantly hear the likes of Demetriou & the WAFC banging on about how many kids are playing the game today to make their KPI's look better (up 20% on last year etc) but the reality is most of those numbers will be made up of kids playing auskick and then obviously giving footy away by the time they are 12 (when you are gearing them up for senior footy) and of course the girls figure being included that were never in the past!

What they also do BH is if there is a team they automatically register it at 25 or so players. Lots of teams at the moment have 13 or 16 or 18 kids in it.

TF your club has dropped 70,thats a shame hay..we have grown bigger this season...the way the junior footy is headed will see the perth district with only 2 clubs with a 17's (year 12) this season (kenwick and gosnells). We are volunteers and have a passion to the juniors, but it seems the authorities will get what they want...16's and 17's footy is dead
