BC wrote: Well...that was a cracking game of footy. Tough in the clinches, big hits, heavy pressure on the ball carrier, a bit of niggle although our poor kicking for goal in the third almost cost us. Claremont came to play and certainly didn't shirk the issue. Losing Haydn Kennedy in the second hurt us rotation wise and you could tell both sides were spent at about the 15 minute mark of the last but to Claremont's credit they kept coming. No Gus Litherland which was a surprise but the replacements in Fullgrabe, Leach and Matera all did well. Ben Newton continued his terrific run of form, Horse good, Dela soundly beaten in the ruck but did some excellent things around the ground with 30 touches and a goal, Harry Marsh, Lockyer, Kitch, Greg Clark, Sokol and Borchet all had an impact. The young ruckman from Claremont in Goddard is going to be very good as he was influential at the stoppages and is only 21. All in all an excellent game with a good crowd in...more than 2000 I'm guessing.

pretty spot on BC, a great contest but not the best quality game. The physical pressure both sides applied was massive and affected both teams abilities to provide their forwards with quality service. In the end, Subi had that slight edge in the quality of their ball use which delivered the win. Very physical contest, anyone who wants to call out the Tiges as soft petticoat wearers should think again, lots of niggle but great to see the two WAFL warriors in Horse and Bolts embrace after the siren. Both great players and great role models. Great crowd today for 2 teams who have no supporters.

As usual got done in the hitouts, thought Dela was quiet in the first half but stepped up with his around the ground work and racked up 30. We will likely see the Tiges in the finals but as DG said the elephant in the room are WCER, especially given they will have unrestricted use of AFL players if their AFL mob play deep into September.

A bit of info on the missing players list boys which I gleaned from the club rooms after the game on Sunday.
Gus Litherland......away on pre-agreed holidays. Will be back after the bye, if not the week after.
Clancy Wheeler.....off to England now to see the Ashes with his European fiance I'm told and won't be back until later in the year.
Kyle Halligan.........cannot get his knee right and unlikely to play this year and may have to retire
Craig Hoskins.........grade 4 quad and wont be back until a coupe of weeks before the finals
Aaron Heal........... back a couple of weeks after the bye
Drew Rhode......... .possibly play after the bye
Jack Beverley....... .possibly play after the bye
Max Walters...........was suspended by club for disciplinary reasons........think he's allowed back after bye
Hayden Kennedy....shoulder again........not sure on prognosis but may be out a while

That's brilliant Ocker ...cheers. I'm disappointed with Kennedy as it was a late hit by a Claremont player which was pretty ordinary.
also notice Joel Latham is missing in action...any mail on him?

Wafl website says 3-4 weeks for Fimmano DG , but not sure when that was from or how up to date. Bad news re Halligan hope he can come back if not his last game was 5 goals in a winning Grand final.

Thats 4 of our back 6 out at the moment, but the boys that have come in have done really well. Disappointing that Clang has decided to take off but he has been a real warrior for the club so cant really criticise him, another chance for a youngster to stake a claim for a finals berth. being the back up ruck for Dela I would expect Sutherland to come in in fine conditions.
Halla's is all quality and brings some real aggression so a big loss if he cant get back. Anyone have any figures on the number of players we have blooded this year?

Clanger disappearing would have been an ideal opportunity to give young Mayo some more game time but alas, it's not to be. Also, Christian Martin could have been elevated but he's gone too. Bugger.

I think we've only debuted Jack Beverley, Jack Mayo, Travis Cleggert and Ben Reid this year SS. There could be more but I can't recall any others. As an aside, the official attendance figure for last Sunday was 2,652 which was a pretty good effort. I think I posted on here after the game that there must have been at least 2,000 and there was !!

Thanks BC, thought there were more, I guess you add in the others who only played a couple in the last few years it indicates that there is a willingness to try the local lads.
Crowd v CL was excellent given some on here state both teams have no supporters. Excellent weather, top 2 clash and no AFL interference helped plus it was a terrific hard fought game.
